Agreed, more will just use VPNs. PopcornTime already has free VPN built in. |

What the content industry needs to do is let go of the last century biz model. They need to get current content on streaming video services, but $6 rentals is not going to cut it.
They need to get PPV down to $1-$3.. Also encourage something like a Netflix+ for $10 more that has current movies or have their own monthly subscriptions with current movies. They can boost ad-based services like Crackle and even Youtube by providing more current movies, which should attract more users, which should attract higher premium ads for Crackle. |

People keep saying they need to let the last century business model go, yet that is exactly what the music industry has done. Minus a few holdouts, nearly all the major label's catalogs are available for streaming. For free even. But there has been little evidence that piracy is declining and a great deal of evidence that streaming is cannibalizing download sales. Even if it does reduce piracy, revenues are not recovering.
It is no surprise the movie industry has been unwilling to widely embrace streaming. Their current business model is profit while streaming has not yet proven profitable for anyone but Netflix. |

If PopcornTime hits mainstream in a year or so (like Napster once did with general population), they may have no choice but to change the model. PopcornTime will be harder to stop than Napster if even possible. |
