Re: 2014-2015 Toronto Maple Leafs Thread

In related news, Oilers threw a bone to the Jets who just earned 2 points tonight. Go Jets Go!

I'm surprised it has taken this long... Not because of this season's abysmal failure, but many seasons ago, basically when Burke arrived and refused to do a proper rebuild that we're still suffering from now.

Lowest since moving to the ACC, but not the first non-sellout. The visit from Colorado back in October was also not a sell-out (though barely - 65 short of listed capacity).

They actually have to ask that.........?

Good God there are only a half dozen players on that team that should be in the NHL.

Leafs told Matt Puempel that if he was there when they drafted, they would pick him

»www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/ ··· -nelson/

23. Finally, he told a good story about the 2011 draft, where the Senators took him 24th overall.

“Toronto had told me if I was there they would grab me. They traded for the 22nd pick, so I was anxious and excited, but they didn’t take me. Then Ottawa moved up… and they were interested, too. My agent (Pat Morris) winked at me, and I knew.”

Suffice it to say Puempel, who grew up a Leaf fan, switched allegiances very quickly.

Boy, did Nonis ever dodge a bullet when Bolland signed in Florida.

yea, i did like Bolland, but the Leafs likely knew they couldn't afford to keep him anyway...i think Bolland does bring some qualities that don't show up on a stat sheet, but he has been injury prone lately and his numbers sure weren't great down south...that said, i hope he has a better season and future in FLA.

So I hear on the local sports radio Kessels and Booth had to be pulled apart today at
practice.

I don't give a flying fadoo at this point...

Just finish out the string and go golfing.... Oilers are only 5 pts back and Arizona 6pts back, so maybe if those teams catch fire (yeah right) we can sink a spot lower. Right now sitting nicely in 4th last.

I hope management can move a lot of players this off season 'cause if I was a high
draft pick I might not be too thrilled going into Leafs organization! At least not with
the status quo.

I was at that game with my friend and noticed it from our seats rights away,, several rows that had three or four seats empty. I'm betting those were the seats scooped up by scalpers.

Considering what I paid for "Access Seating" I wonder if I wouldn't have been better off just walking up with my friend on Monday night cash in hand (I doubt my knee would have let me pull that stunt )

I doubt it... Leafs have no heart or passion to do anything at this point. They only registered 8 hits in the game vs Beefalo.

Boston doesnt want any suspensions with the playoff race tight.

It depends. The upside to winning in Toronto is mythical legendary status. If Shanny can get rid of Kessel, Phaneuf, Bozak, all of a sudden you're left with a blank slate to work with. Look at Calgary this year. Bob Hartley should win the Jack Adams.

I agree with everything you said above except Bob Hartley for the Jack Adams.

The Jack Adams is Paul Maurice's to lose IMO.

True, if there was ever a year for the NHL to pull "co-winners" out of their hat...

Though after today's Jets / Flames contest I think Hartley lost a few votes

The Toronto Maple Leafs have fired GM Dave Nonis, along with interim head coach Peter Horachek, and all three of his assistants.

Mark Hunter and Kyle Dubas will share GM responsibilities on an "interim basis," the club said.

Watch for Nonis to resurface in Calgary in some capacity. Him & Burkie are tight.
