Got a pic of the trailer with the cords going to it just off to the right of the frame? I wonder if this is a "fake" house containing a private substation (perhaps traction power) or some type of pump..? |

Looks like a brand new service mast/weatherhead to the left of the pole.
Maybe someone just didn't want to wait for the POCO to relocate the pole before starting finishing their remodel/room addition. |

I've seen this before...due to various circumstances, the POCO cannot relocate the pole immediately. The GC just builds around it and the pole is removed later, and the holes patched. |

Not sure I would want that house regardless! |

Wonder what the inspector(s) thought about the foundation, framing, roofing, etc. Not that there's much that can't be corrected after the pole is removed on the final punch list. Wonder if that was a PGE area or SMUD..... |

Not sure if this picture is real or not. I ran into a poolhouse around a pole like that. It was also 2' into the neighbors property. I discovered it on a "medical emergency outage" call for one of the neighbors. The city eventually razed it after the taxpayers spent a fortune on legal fees. I saw another in a garage. It's probably still there. To add to it, there was a fire hydrant next to it - in the garage. Luckily the door was missing.
The best I've seen in person was a house constructed with the cable and telephone cables running lengthwise through an attic. The cables literally went in one gable end and out the other. Not only that, but the power lines were crazy close to the roof. This was a sketchy "rear" house in the city (probably started out as a garage) where they decided to add a second floor. A city inspector discovered the work in progress. Amazingly, the project was allowed to continue once they got permits.
I did the cut around. We set three new poles and moved everything to the other side of the ally. The "GC" was a recent Bosnian immigrant who spoke no English. Apparently that's how they do things in Bosnia. $45,000 cut-around (not including CATV) for a $25,000 addition. The H.O. got stuck with the bill. |

This was sent to me yesterday by a close friend, so I don't doubt that it's real. It looks like new construction to me: door hardware isn't in yet, and the porch lights aren't hung. It's a pretty rural area. |
