The phrase used was "is now under common control with TekSavvy". Which basically means that TekSavvy has effectively purchased the cable company, or at least Marc has purchased the cable company (it means the two companies have the same owners). So that's actually much more than just a partnership. |

OOOOooooo Very nice, I would assume that cable tv or other TV services (IPTV?) be offered in the future to Teksavvy customers..... this way I can tell Rogers to go to the same place I told Bell to go 2 months ago |

TSI's statements at the CRTC hearing indicate they're using it as a learning experience to see what they can do in the market but at this point the regulations make it burdensome to enter the market. |

» www.hastingscablevision.ca/Very interesting! How many small town cable companies are left in Ontario? Will they start doing firmware upgrades with the CMTS?!?! (not practical, I'm just being silly) Hmm.. Looks like Hastings CableVision is about due for a Docsis 3 upgrade, maybe they'd like to sell me their old CMTS when they are done |

Step 1: Fix the website: Free cable modem when you bundle High Speed Internet with a new or existing cable subscription before December 31, 2013. Oish...they sure let things go...38 channels?...yeah I think a DOCSIS 3 upgrade is well out of the question . 5Mbps Download, 0Mbps Upload? This is where the DOCSIS 1.0 modems went to die . Perhaps they were upgraded to DOCSIS 1.1? But yeah it would definitely be a learning experience...but its a bidirectional network but definitely needs a lot of work but I can see why it doesn't because its such a small area its tough to justify doing any sort of cable upgrade. |

What ever the case maybe. I just look forward to the day when I can give back my Rogers HD box an say bye bye to them. The only question is what kind of service will Teksavvy be able to offer, what channels, and at what capacity, also what hardware will we need to purchase or rent?
I hope it's something more like VMedia. |

Rogers wouldn't need to apply for TPIA status on Teksavvy's cable system as they have access to all the channels currently in Ontario and elsewhere. If the cable company that Teksavvy is partnered with has a specialty channel that Rogers wants then that's something different. |

Yea I would say Minimum would be DOCSIS 3, however they may take this opportunity to deploy some of the latest technology or maybe even fiber or something.
Its defiantly going to be an expensive upgrade but I hope it works out for all of us in the future be it in the form of voip or cable tv offerings.
Hopefully Teksavvy keeps us updated on what they do and what they see in the future for them. |

No, if Rogers wanted to offer internet service, they would either have to become a TPIA or do an overbuild TV channels have nothing to do with it |

Re: I see TV in our futureWhat do you think Rogers On-Demand on your mobile devices is? And then there is the partnership between Shaw and Rogers, they are coming out with a site to compete with Netflix this year.
They likely already have TPIA status, like Bell does with their FibeTV which goes over their Fibe Internet. |

TV via TekSavvy can't happen soon enough. IPTV using the hardware Zazeen is using would be great. Can't wait to ditch Rogers' $100/month crap, which will probably be $110 a month by next year. said by bbbc : The best example being IPTV is limited to a geographical footprint.
Zazeen/Acanac's service extends frustratingly to a few km from me. |
