egus See Profile thank you for posting here about this issue. I know there is an issue with some Motorola modems that we are working to resolve now. I will however be happy to look into this to verify you are being affected by the same issue. Can you send me an IM with your account or phone number?

mine has been rock solid... rarely to do i get a reboot. had them a lot with my earlier surfboard though. They are very tolerant to signal changes. I am thinking only a couple of things: signal, bad firmware, or questionable modem itself. I really doubt the last one unless it took a power surge.

We have some customers reporting T3/T4 timeouts with there SB modems. Arris (who owns Motorola modems) are working to see why this is happening and our lab is working with them on it.

Good to know. I had serveral additional reboots last night. (at one point 2 in a half hour.)

I exchanged IM's with mediacommchad who had me check power/voltage, etc. (source is good, so perhaps modem issue). (modem has been in service for about 4 months, purchased new from retail.)

But, since I setup a tech to come out I have received 3 automated phone calls that "a problem was identified and fixed in your area...." Only had one reboot after the last one. Have not had another reboot since 11:30 pm last night.

So it's really up in the air what's going on.

Tech is scheduled for next week, figured I would keep the appt at least to get a measurement of signals levels on the wire from him.

Good to know I am not the only one! I was going to go buy a new modem, but I guess I'll wait and see what Mediacom and Arris come up with!

Add me to the growing legion of SB6141 owners experiencing these reboots...frustrating. My activity log shows many just today indicating T3 and T4 timeouts...

Yeah, everything was stable here for a while. Then got home today and found logging of several time-out reboots again.

Just had another reboot, with a different message in log.

Cable Modem Reboot due to T4 timeout ;CM-MAC=30:60:23:cd:f1:69;CMTS-MAC=00:00:00:00:00:00;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

Earlier today had a reboot that logged this...

Cable Modem Reboot due to T4 timeout ;CM-MAC=30:60:23:cd:f1:69;CMTS-MAC=00:24:14:60:ea:b3;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

Seems like two different things happened. i find it hard to believe it's a modem issue.

Hello egus See Profile,

I don't show anything that would cause this problem. I do show you have a service appointment setup for a tech to further investigate on site. Once I show this is completed, I will be happy to follow up with you here and make sure this gets resolved.

Hello slatimer72 See Profile,

Could you send me an IM with your account or phone # and the MAC ID of the modem you're using? I'll look into this for you and see if I can get this corrected.

Did you folks try running your modem directly to your PC and bypass any/the router you may have?? I am currently testing it.

I hear that suggestion all the time....what's the point (other than ruling out your router as the problem)? If the router is the problem (which is HIGHLY doubtful), I'm not gonna replace it as long as I'm OK most of the time. This has to be a MC problem or a modem firmware problem...

Well, a tech came out earlier today. Checked signals inside the house and "repaired?/replaced" connections at the box on the outside of our house and he was out n the box at the street.
He was not talkative so I have no idea what he found.

But we've had 2 reboots since he left, one @ 1437 and another just 15 minutes ago.

So problem is not resolved.

I run DDWRT on my router, and the logs I receive via smtp show no problem and no requests for DCHP release or renew. Also when reboots are occurring we have no problem on the LAN. last reboot of the Router shows 48 days ago. Zero WAN related errors in the logs.

modem logs are pretty clear its not a router issue.

I've been running it straight from modem to pc and I have only had one hiccup, if you can call it that, SYNC Timing Synchronization failure. I would agree with the router not being bad if the wan and home network is still operational but what it could be is some sort of translation between the modem and the router and it causes something. I don't know, grasping as to why it would work without the router. Still testing.

Modem to PC eliminated the router as a possible problem. I was still getting t3 and t4s and modem reboots. The only thing I can think of now is the modem....

So I am thinking of buying my own modem and see the SB6121 is on sale now. Does anyone know if this modem also has these reboot issues, or is it limited to the 6141?

Yes, I am on the sb6121 and I have the problems. Mediacom is working on a solution right now. Karrun, the modem will work but you will get occasional drops which we speculate is a firmware issue.

Thanks for the update, Chad. It's certainly not a debilitating problem (at least for me). Seems like, when it happens (like this morning around 6:20 a.m.) it lasts off and on for about 10-20 minutes. Hasn't happened since...
