[Equipment] iPhone marketing geniusI don't know how they do it, but I have never seen these kinds of wait lines, news clips, newscaster "technology-guru" ... over a smartphone. It happens on nearly every iPhone-X release. I don't see this from releases of the latest Android based phones (maybe on a smaller scale for the next Samsung)
My theory: most of the ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, HLN, FOX ... are getting gratis phones and willing to pay for extended coverage. Really, most of us, who know (dangerously) about the developing of code of both Apple and Android (most can be ported bi-directional) don't give (much - come on ARM standards) a crap about marketing the hardware, but fruitless marketing of the developed app.
Pure marketing genius Apple - Bravo - (I've never owned an Apple product; however, the rest of my fashion conscience family does and 'NEEDS' the latest). |

Apple makes nice products that appeal to people. They are known for a higher quality bar. Their apps and designs are a pleasure to use. The marketing is certainly good, but their success isn't all from marketing. My laptop is the MacBookPro 17" from 2011. Back then it had the best hardware on the market. The display resolution was a big hitter @ 1920 X 1200. That and they offered an i7 4 core processor. After installing 16GB of ram and a 240GB SATA 3 (500MB/s r/w) SSD, it is still a kick ass LT 3 years later. By the way, I'm a die-hard Windows man. Windows in a Virtual Machine on the LT. I have a Droid Razr (first gen) and I like the desktop of it much better than iOS. I need to clean it off and customize it. The iPhone does not allow us to remove icons! The iPhone 4 is what I have, but only because I found it with a cracked screen. It slides off most everything I set it on. My leg, chair, dash. No wonder it has a cracked screen |

It's called a cult. Jim Jones convinced 900 people to drink poison kool-aid. Doesn't mean it was great idea. |

Android has a cult also. The difference is Apple makes great products that are easy to use and last longer than most of the competitions products.
Years ago a swore I would never use anything Apple, however once I got out of IT and didn't need to make money supporting Windows I was a MCSE, I looked at Apple with an open mind. I bought an iMac G5 for $2200 and it lasted 6 years and ran just as good as the day I bought it 5 years later. Year 6 it started to get slow and I sold it for $300 and bought a 17 inch Macbook Pro for $2000 and is now 4 years old and still running just as good as it was from day one. Only issue with it is the battery dies faster now but I will replace that soon. I bought a PC for $1200 in 96 and it didn't last as long and had more issues. I also built other PC over the years up to Windows XP and they always slowed down over the years. MS just doesn't know how to make an OS that won't slow down over the years. Thats why I like Mac's and Linux. You do get what you pay for in some things
If you have never used an Apple product before with an OPEN mind you will never understand, haters will be haters. There computers are great and can do anything a PC does, it can even run Windows if you want. The problem is most people can't get past the price but they are worth it. You just need to decide whats best for you, I have 3 Macs, 2 Windows computers and a Linux server. Each one is used for different things. Windows computers are for my touchscreen jukebox and cocktail table running MAME. Homemade Megatouch that most people wouldn't have a clue how to build running Linux, so I know thing or two about technology and computers. Macs for everyday use, Linux is my server.
People line up for Apple because they make great products that last, if they didn't last people wouldn't line up for them. Samsung is the closest thing to them and they aren't even close.
Just my 2 cents |

LOL, specs aren't everything. You probably believe the a 16megapixel camera takes better pictures than a 8 megapixel camera. I can list others. You need to learn the technology not go buy specs alone. Also need to consider other things that are also important to you. I use what works best for me for what I am doing, iphone for phone, Mac for every day use and Linux for my server.
If you don't like Apple just say so but I hate when people say one is better than the other. I don't like Android because it's made by google and I don't like their privacy policy. I never said IOS is better than Android or Android is better then IOS, it's all in what you like and how you use it. But going by specs is what someone does when they don't know what they are talking about. It's like saying Ford is better the Chevy. |

I like how you assume that I don't know anything because I won't drink the Apple flavored kool-aid. An I don't like Apple and haven't well before the iPhone was a thing because of their business practices and attitude. When they change maybe I'd consider them. |

fair enough, just wish you would have said that instead of just saying something about specs.
P.S wasn't trying to get in an argument, just can't stand when people say one is better than the other. Use what you like and works for you and you will be happy. |

I call BS. You claim to be a knowledgeable tech. yet claim the Microsoft OS is what ages and slows a machine. Go amaze someone who knows no better. This is the wrong pond. |

This is the wrong pond. believe what you want. It's not just the OS that causes it but how it handles other programs and files. Apple, Linux and Unix are better |
