Problem seems to be the iPhone 6 and 6+, other models are not affected. Unfortunately I upgraded my 6, no cellular or Touch ID. |

Update: Warning! Many users of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in particular, myself included, are seeing cell service knocked out by this update, and Touch ID also seems to not be recognized. It could also be a factor of doing an over-the-air update, as some phones which updated using the tethered version via iTunes are apparently working. Hold off on updating any iPhone models until this gets sorted out, just to be safe.
Apple has a new version of iOS 8 out, just a short time after the initial launch of the software. The update, 8.0.1, includes a number of fixes, but most notably (and listed first), it addressed the bug that prevented HeatlhKit apps from being available at launch. It also zaps some bugs with third-party keyboards, which should make them remain the default option until a user switches to another, which has been a sore spot for fans of the new external software keyboard options.
Unfortunately, installing the iOS 8.0.1 update revealed that despite Apples promised fixes, it actually completely disables cellular service and Touch ID on many devices, though some iPhone 5s and older model owners report no issues. The bottom line is that you should definitely NOT install this update, at least until an updated version appears, at which time well let you know its safe to go ahead.
As you can see in the image below, Apple is also addressing an issue that blocked some photos from appearing in Photo Library, fixing reliability concerns around Reachability on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus (which brings the top of the screen down when you double touch the Home button), zapping bugs that cause unexpected data use when communicating via SMS or MMS, and improving the Ask to Buy feature for Family Sharing, specifically around in-app purchases, in addition to other minor bugs. » techcrunch.com/2014/09/2 ··· p-store/ |

With respect to the article that I posted above, did those of you who installed this update and lost cellular and Touch ID: did you do the update over the air or tethered with iTunes? |

Jeez. Tried to do a DFU restore and I get the "phone can't be restored" error message.
Apple, get your f***ing shit together, will ya?
Over 10 million iPhone 6 units sold huh--how many of those upgraded (or will upgrade) before seeing that there was a problem on blogs, etc.? Half? |

I updated OTA too. I'm reading that a backup and restore with iTunes will fix this. |

Since I updated OTA, I thought that a DFU would fix whatever issue there was, but it didn't work. Since I did backup to iCloud right before I did this, I'm erasing the phone and trying to restore from that backup. |

You need the 8.0 iPhone 6 ipsw. They are signing 8.0 again, but not signing 8.0.1. iTunes may still be trying to use the 8.0.1 image if you're just hitting the "restore" button until all the caches update. |

How to reverse from cult of mac (using a mac): » www.cultofmac.com/297568 ··· -update/"First disable Find My iPhone on your iPhone by going to Settings >> iCloud >> toggle off Find My iPhone. Then connect your device to a Mac, open iTunes and follow these steps. 1. Download iOS 8.0 2. Open the iPhone page on iTunes. 3. Hold Option and click Restore iPhone 4. Select the iOS 8 IPSW firmware you just downloaded 5. Click Restore and wait for iTunes to work its wonders. The entire process shouldnt take longer than 30 minutes." See Riamen's post 4 down from here for download links. Windows- If using a windows computer, I would assume "alt" replaces the "option" key |

Also the Touch ID is borked because on the setup screen for it during the restore it errored out and said it wasn't available. Heading out to GuruGuy's links for 8.0 (thanks!) for a downgrade. Fingers crossed I get my phone back. |

Ugh...just downloading the ipsw file didn't cut it as the firmware was showing as newer and it wouldn't let me just choose the ipsw file from Finder. I had to DFU it again and luckily since they pulled 8.0.1, 8.0 showed up. It's making me download 8.0 again though. Restoring now. Fingers are hurting from keeping them crossed. |

Whew. Back to "normal" on iOS 8.0.
I would NOT recommend using the evad3rs.net links for restoring the 6/6+.
I downloaded the file linked for the 6+ and what Apple served up after my failed attempt to force a restore from the evaders file was different than that file.
Evad3ers downloaded this file: iPhone7,2_8.0_12A365_Restore = 2.05 GB Apple downloaded and installed this: iPhone7,1_8.0_12A366_Restore = 2.37 GB |

You can download the ipsw directly from Apple at: » appldnld.apple.com/iOS8/ ··· ore.ipswEdit: Above link is for the iPhone 6 Here's the one for the 6+: » appldnld.apple.com/iOS8/ ··· ore.ipsw |

The Evad3ers links were linked directly to Apple as well. What I'm saying is that links were pointing to the wrong phones. |
