OK, This is Weird. How can an SB6141 be a DOCSIS 2 Modem?

I recently upgraded from TWC Standard to Ultimate 50, but am still getting the exact same 15.8 Mbps.

OK, this is weird. TWC Tech Support says that even though I have an SB6141, its MAC address indicates that it's a DOCSIS 2 modem. And that there are two versions of the 6141, DOCSIS 2 and DOCSIS 3.

Has anybody heard of such a thing, or are they shining me on?

It sure was a crock. Problem solved after escalation to a level 3 tech.

When I signed on to TWC 14 months ago my modem was recorded as a DOCSIS 2.0 modem,so the system limited me to 15/1. I'm now getting 54/5.

"Two versions" is BS, but the same thing happened to me back when I had a 6141 - their system thought it was D2 despite it clearly being D3. A quick tech support escalation had mine fixed.
