Centurylink vs. p2pHi all, I'm new here. Just wondering if it is legal to download stuff through p2p in the States? I'm using centurylink internet service here, but seems unable to download through p2p torrent and software (eg. bit comet)... Am using its C1000A modem. Is there anything I need to set? (if it is legal) Thanks a lot!! |

Depends on what you're actually downloading through P2P.
I download and distribute Linux builds on P2P quite often with no issue on CL |

Thanks brad152! I'm having problem downloading anything with p2p software here. The software shows error notice after couple minutes after i start my download. weird.. I guess it is connecting issue... Shall i set anything on my modem? (I saw the port forwarding post, but wondering if i really have to do that?) thanks a lot!! |

what bit torrent software are you using? Bitcomet, utorrent? I see that you put in bitcomet as your example. Are you using the default bit torrent port or an uncommon port? Are you using upnp to delegate ports automatically? There are quite a few scenarios to play through here to figure out what might be wrong.
As for me, I use utorrent on and off, have not had any issues. |
