iOS8 app updates

I have automatic app updates disabled, but I find that the update badges dont show unless i open the app store and then they appear...

Is this normal behaviour? It was the same on my old iPhone5/iOS7 but I thought it might have been because due to jailbreak...

Not running any JB now for obvious reasons, and the apps update badges still don't appear.

It doesn't happen instantly or even "frequently" but yes, eventually the badge will update with "a" number.

More often than not, however, there are additional updates that increase the count when I next open the app store and at which point, the badge is also updated to that number.

ah.. i just click it once a day hoping a few apps that are still broken in iOS8 are updated, and find updates for other apps but there was no automatic badge...

I would imagine that if you have auto updates, that there is no badges, the apps are just updated and you get the blue dot next to them.

nvm, i misread your reply as saying you have auto updates enabled
