Searchable and indexing files

Hello,

I have a question i cant seem to find an answer to and if i did, i am somewhat confused.

So Windows Search Service is the default component installed with Windows 7, this will index properties/content for configured files and explicitly defined locations, correct? This means that if a mapped network drive is not defined in the locations to index, this network drive will not be indexed.. Right?

Windows Search Server, pretty mush a local web portal to do searches on defined locations and configured files, correct?

Does the Search Server provides data to the Search Service?

Thanks
