6.0.2 Oct 14th Patch 6.0.2: The Iron Tide Crashes into Azeroth October 14 Less than a week remains to finish everything that is changing in Patch 6.0.2! Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums) Patch 6.0.2: The Iron Tide is scheduled to crash into Azeroth on Tuesday, October 14. Featuring new content heralding the Iron Horde incursion, updates to the skills and abilities for every class, and a host of gameplay adjustments, this overture to Warlords of Draenor is coming at you armed to the teeth.
Treacherous Developments The Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands has turned blood red. Hundreds of strange-looking orcs are violently pouring into Azeroth, killing everything that stands in their path. Nethergarde and Okrillon have already fallen, and while the Horde and the Alliance moved as quickly as they could to get reinforcements to their people, they are too late. The Iron Horde invasion has begun.
In this desperate hour, King Wrynn and Warchief Voljin have called upon their greatest champions to join the front lines in the Blasted Lands and do whatever they can to stop the Iron Horde . . . before the rest of Azeroth falls before them.
Word of this surprise attack sends players rushing to the Blasted Lands to reckon with the barbarous infiltration. After the fall of a high ranking Iron Horde general named Garmak Bladetwist, youll report what youve witnessed in the Blasted Lands to King Wrynn or Warchief Voljin. Its apparent to both the Horde and the Alliance that this is only the first salvo in a much larger conflict, and the only way to win is to take the fight directly to the Iron Horde . . . by journeying through the Dark Portal into Draenor.
The Infiltration of Blackrock Spire An advance party of Iron Horde forces has barged right out of the Blasted Lands and pushed all the way to Blackrock Mountain, where they found refuge and supplies in Upper Blackrock Spire. There can be only one response: the Alliance and the Horde of Azeroth must face this iron incursion head on.
Available to level-90 characters for a limited time, this specially revamped five-player version of Upper Blackrock Spire sets the stage for the coming counterstrike against the Iron Horde. Here, you will face Orebender Gor'ashan, Kyrak, and Commander Tharbek as you begin to take the fight to the enemy and sharpen the skillsand swordsyoull need to succeed on an unwelcoming alien world.
Prepare yourself. Draenor is waiting. |

Really happy about this. A month to learn to replay resto shaman and get a hell of a lot better at ele. |
|
|
Were you resto in MoP? Because its pretty much stayed the same. A matter in fact its one of the few unchanged raw healing specs left. |

Yes I was, and although the spells are little different, the mana curve will take a bit of getting used to. It's more elemental I need to get to grips with as 90-100 is going to be easier that way. |

I'm curious to see how rogues go live. AoC has finally started working from what I understand in beta, but somehow slightly differently. I've seen talk of how (at least at 90) how it gives crazy uptime to AR which pulls combat much, much closer to assassination, and sub is actually a very viable spec as well.
It'll be interesting to see which spec I'll be playing in a week on Garrosh. |

So someone remind me... if VP and JP are going away in 6.0, does this mean that upgrades are going away also in 6.0? What reforging?
And on a side note, I chuckle that we are all pissed off that someone is coming into our land and killing our people so our solution is to go into their land and kill their people. Does that really make us any better than the Iron Horde? I. Think. Not. |
|
|
Yes, reforging is going away and so is upgrading. |

Reforging is going away, but upgrades will be purchased using lesser charms, I believe 50 lesser charms will get you one upgrade. I am not sure if the gear changes will happen. I think I read in one of the MMO Champion posts that MOP gear will not be eligible for the specialization swap. |
|
|
I believe that's right. The current gear stays as is, and only WoD gear gets the specialization changes and other other secondary stats like mulitstrike and versitility. |

Well I've spent the afternoon going through the updated guides on Icy-Veins. I'm happy to say that for most of the toons I play (Shadow Priest, Guardian Druid, aff/destro Warlock), the rotations aren't changing at all or very minimally. That's awesome.
There are some classes that I'm going to have to let go though.
First and foremost will be the elemental shaman. Having earthquake as one of the main priorities in a single target rotation, even before spells like lava burst and lightning bolt, has to be one of the most asinine things I've heard. It frustrates me just on principle, let alone on the fact I have to take my hand off the keyboard to use a spell that needs positionally targeted (I have the same gripe with Rain of Fire on Destro lock btw).
I imagine I'll be benching my prot paladin also. Even though there aren't any huge changes with 6.0 patch (other than the loss of a few spells), I'm nervous about WoD and seal dancing which I won't be into.
Mage is another one I'm concerned about rotation changes. I'll need to play my mage specs a bit before I make a decision but right now I'd say he's on the fence. |

Resto shaman hasn't changed much, less value from heals and the removal of Greater Healing Wave will have the biggest impact on me, but mechanics wise it's more of the same. Ele is a semi new experience for me anyway, I've messed around with it but I've never gone all out DPS, just enough to kill mobs on the Timeless Isle. As for targeting spells being part of the main rotation, I agree, however I map mine to a mouse button so they are easy to drop. Only issue with shaman, is that mouse button is already used for healing rain... |

said by Cat5:Only issue with shaman, is that mouse button is already used for healing rain... You can map it with a hotkey like ALT so that it does one spell when ALT is pressed and the other when not. The targeting spells are probably semi-uniquely challenging for me because I'm a keyboard player almost exclusively when raiding. Having to target a spell on the ground means I have to pick my face up off the keyboard to actually see where to put it. |

I struggle to do it in a DPS role, but when I heal it's no issue as I left hand move and right hand mouse-over heal.
Really tempted to mouse-over attack too. |

The patch notes are here. » us.battle.net/wow/en/blo ··· -18-2014I would copy and paste for the websensed but the notes are extremely lengthy and comprehensive this time, with multiple graphic charts that don't copy well. But here is a sound bite: Introduction to Character and Class Changes Welcome to a look at character and class changes. We're trying a new patch note format, which we hope will help better convey the reasoning for many of the changes being made and what they mean for you, while providing more background into issues we're trying to solve. Looking for a TL;DR summary of the character and class changes? Here you go! Character stats have been squished into smaller numbers that are easier to understand. It's important to understand that this is not a nerf as enemies' stats have been squished as well. Balanced functionality of Agility, Strength and Intellect. New secondary stats: Bonus Armor, Multistrike, and Versatility. Hit and Expertise have been removed; they're no longer needed in order to reliably land attacks! The pacing of healing has been adjusted to allow for more tactical decision-making regarding efficiency and throughput, on both single-target and multi-target heals. Passive and auto-targeted healing have been reduced in effectiveness in order to emphasize the actions and choices of healers. Racial traits have been rebalanced so that all races have similar combat performance. All classes have had several abilities pruned, with a focus on redundant and less-used abilities to cut down on button and keybind bloat. Amount of crowd-control in the game (primarily PvP) has been drastically reduced. Many crowd-control abilities have been removed, and many diminishing returns categories have been merged together. Several common buffs and debuffs have been merged, or removed, where they were redundant. All characters now learn some important Major Glyphs automatically as they level up. Toned down the amount of instant healing in the game by giving cast times to several instant cast heals. For Tanks, Vengeance has been redesigned and renamed Resolve. Resolve does not increase outgoing damage, but does now increases tank self-healing and absorption based on damage taken. Facing requirements (character positioning) on some prominent abilities have been loosened or removed. Reduced Mana cost of Resurrection spells to make it a little easier to recover from a wipe. Professions no longer have combat benefit perks tied to them. A multitude of class-specific changes, things like improved distinction between different Talent specializations, and new Masteries. Please consult class-specific sections below for more information. |

Those are PTR notes technically Gan. I appreciate it though. I expect them to be mostly correct, but was just looking for official notes. |

For me the worst thing about the new patch is Grid not showing buffs. |
