[Internet] Can you tell me what my line stats look like?
I've been getting wicked line spikes when playing TF2 over the last couple of weeks. I have found no packet loss. So I was wondering if my line stats could be the cause. I have attached what I am getting from a CNG2. What are your thoughts?
Your cable modem stats are well within the norm. Strong signal. I would suggest detailing if the rogers modem/router is in bridge mode or not, also detail all your networking hardware. On TF2 are you playing it on a cat wire or wireless?
I also experience this. I thought it was due to the packet loss issue I had which Rogers said they corrected (and adjusted the signal strength at my tap), but my packet loss is gone and yet the lag spikes in TF2 still occur.
I've done everything from swapping routers to reinstalling TF2, but the problem still exists. I'm not exactly sure what the cause of the problem is.
It is happening on multiple TF2 servers. Any other game that I have (Portal for example) doesn't exhibit this issue. TF2 is the only multiplayer game that I have.
What happens is that it the game will freeze. Then after anywhere from 30 seconds to five minutes, it will act like someone just fast forwarded a videotape and then it will return to normal. Then it will happen again at some point. I have gone as long as 45 minutes between episodes or as little as 5 minutes.
you have an intermittent issue and it's hard to see from a snapshot of stats what the issue is unless you catch it. sadly that modem doesn't keep an event log and it's hard to see what errors it's getting.
you should be able to contact Rogers tho and have them look at your line, make sure you aren't on wifi since they'll assume it's that. hopefully they can see something.
