1. Accept your responsibility to fund the introductory or promotional offers for other new subscribers. Others have funded the introductory or promotional rates for you by paying the higher non-promotional rate.

2. Call and declare your need to switch to the lower Preferred tier due to an unanticipated income reductions, higher electricity rates, and increased healthcare costs. Or some such reasoning. See if your retention specialist will offer to keep you at Premier for more than the 53.99, but less than the regular price that you are facing.

3. Call and ask to drop to the Essential tier. Use similar explanation as in my answer number 2. See what kind of deal you can be offered to switch to Preferred.

There was no promotions and all so I dropped down to the preferred at the standard price of $62.99. It's better but it could have been worse I don't not want to pay an additional 20 for Internet.

The reason I do not like those two year offers with the ridiculous low first year rate that significantly increases for the second year. DirecTV, Dish Network, Cox, and AT&T all do it. It is very annoying.

The price has sneaked up over the last few years. But no long term contract and speeds doubled.
May go over caps a bit but no one has said anything yet. Over but not horribly so.
