Re: Actiontec MI424WR Firmware Version 40.21.18I just came in here to find out if Verizon is going to force Actiontec to upgrade the BASH interpreter that has those security breaches and then I saw your post and started reading . not sure if they added the new fixes or not » www.zdnet.com/shellshock ··· 0034115/ |

On mine, the shell is BusyBox. On a related topic, I more interested in what they'll do about SSLv3 and POODLE. The build date on the new release is too old to have been in reaction to that. There's a reason I keep my own OpenWRT router as primary, and the Actiontec tucked away on its own VLAN and firewall zone. At least with OpenWRT, I can generally apply security patches the day the vulnerability is announced... |

Voltara I could not remember if it had busybox or not, I'm starting to loose my memory it seems, as I used to be one of the early adopters of DD-WRT on the older A models of this router and had made many dumps, it all just rushed in when Isaw your post. thanks I appreciate your answer. I realize that the danger on this router as it defaults is minimal or none existent, but if a user decides to open the external administration it would have been not so good.
since you reminded me of BB I can relax about mine. |

Anyone know if it will push to my router if it is in bridge or double bridge mode? |
|
|
|
Which configuration? » Verizon FiOS FAQ » What are the tradeoffs between the various router configurationsIf by double bridge, you mean option #5. It will not push to your router, as the Actiontec is not primary. |

Yep, #5. I assume there is nothing ground breaking that I'm missing? |

Where did you download the file from. I went to upgrade/actiontec and it still shows the old version. I really need the Dynamic DNS fix. |

I have a feeling the firmware update for Rev. I is tied up with the STB's IMG 1.9.7 update that's why it was offered to some and not for everyone. I'll soon find out if Verizon push the IMG to us this week. |

Can't wait for the new Guide here in VHO-5 |

Well I'll find out if it's tied to any set tops since I have the router and not Verizon service. |

Still no new F/W in VHO-5, we did get 1.9.7 though. |

I have the new firmware in VHO5. |

Pushed today? |

Still nothing in my part of VHO-5 Staten Island |

The latest firmware was pushed today @2:35AM. So it seems they waited for IMG 1.9.7 before they pushed this firmware. This time around, the firmware upgrades were controlled per VHO. |

I'm still at 40.21.10.3, and I got the new FiOS software image last week. |
|

Give it one day, it's probably not your cycle yet. The new firmware was pushed from a Verizon server. The firmware in the Actiontec server is the previous version, therefore, I can only think the deployment is controlled. |

Received the update here in Delaware (VHO8). Not sure when - but within the past week. Have an uptime of 156 hours.
It wasn't there last time I checked when I first saw this thread. |

said by BobJustBob:Hi folks,
Sometime Wednesday night my router malfunctioned. It is unable to establish the LAN over Coax. The LAN Coax light is no longer lit. It is an Actiontec rev I router. All other functionality is normal: I can connect a computer directly to the router using one of the Ethernet ports and get a signal; I can connect via wireless. The most serious consequence of this is that I have FIOS TV and thus have lost the Guide and all other functionality which requires an Internet data signal over my coax wiring.
Now that I see this discussion topic I am wondering if it was this firmware update which caused the problem? Any thoughts as to this possibility? I contacted the Verizon Service Desk and the technician tried a couple of things at his end, and then had me (1) power-off, and then power-on the router, and when that had no effect, he had me (2) press the Reset button to reset the router to its default specs. Neither of these actions solved the problem. I ended up making an appointment to have a tech make a service call. Can anyone make any recommendations as to anything I can be checking in the meantime? Thanks. That may explain why dns calls have recently been very slow or causing timeouts for my parents network (mine doesn't use a verizon router). |

Is your Actiontec the primary router? |

maybe the router IS the node showing 1.1 MOCA when I accessed the VMS "d" button menu » so according to the VMS my ONT is only MOCA 1.1 |
