"Revisions
V1.0 (October 14, 2014): Advisory published. V2.0 (October 17, 2014): Removed Download Center links for Microsoft security update 2949927. Microsoft recommends that customers experiencing issues uninstall this update. Microsoft is investigating behavior associated with this update, and will update the advisory when more information becomes available."
What issues? I thought the issue was people weren't able to install it? |

If you don't use remote desktop features is update KB 2984972 needed?
[The patch] enables the Remote Desktop Connection client to perform restricted administration logons. It also enables the Remote Desktop Service that is running on an RD host to perform restricted administration.
I have remote settings disabled in my system properties. I'm guessing I could hide this one since it's problematic. |

Thanks, no problems to report so I will leave all installed. They really should stop hiring temps for the Quality Control department. |

There was a day when MS Q/C did quadruple checks on KB's if memory serves.
Someone or a group of folks at MS that compile these should be out of a job as it's an issue for millions of MS OS users. |

I'm sure that they'll just trust in their Super Hero powers and Karma to take care of QC from here on out. Yes, QC has gone out the window in Redmond. And they shuttered the Trustworthy Computing group. I think that one of the secondary reasons they are pushing customer to their hosted apps is so they can keep all these issues conveniently out of sight. |

Someone or a group of folks at MS that compile these should be out of a job as it's an issue for millions of MS OS users.   It is always easy to blame Q/A for bugs, but the fact is that Q/A are not the people who put the bugs into the code. That aside, I have a wider concern than the possibility that Microsoft's Q/A department missed some problems. I look at user-found problems, such as we have been seeing with the recent Windows Update releases, as a symptoms. Yes, a bug is a bug is a bug. But a bug is also an indication of a fault in the process that allowed the bug to occur. And that's my concern. Are all these recent issues that we've been seeing with Windows Updates indicative of some developing issues within the Windows development process? Are these issues we've been seeing merely symptoms that Microsoft is losing control of the Windows development process to entropy? |

Let's say you installed a bad update before they realized that it was bad, then they remove it from the update website; will they remove it from your system the next time you go to Windows Update?
Just curious about what happens to people that are not aware that they installed an update that was pulled by MS after numerous people installed it. If they don't know that the update that they installed was later determined by MS to be bad and pulled, they will suffer from it and have no idea what is wrong.
It seems that MS should remove a bad update from your system the next time you return to Windows Update. Do they? |

KB2952664 is for OS upgrades - why it fails consistently - no one seems to know at this point save the learned armchair warriors at Lists like Patch Management. » support.microsoft.com/kb/2952664Hide the KB and don't sweat it. |

To answer the latter part of your query - the answer is no although in some future build of Windows a KB rollback feature would be something we could use. ESET (as an example) offers Virus signature update rollbacks. » kb.eset.com/esetkb/index ··· SOLN3351 |

Lately, their updates sound as if Microsoft is reverting to their coding days of DOS 4.0... with code quality (and testing) to match. |

I am reminded of a StarTrek episode called "The Cloud Minders". Now that MS lives in "The Cloud", their attention is now focused entirely on "The Cloud", and what happens to the unwashed masses on the planet below has become somewhat irrelevant. |

It took three days but it finally, for what ever reason, installed on about the tenth try. I noticed it was a 11.2 Mb file but when it reached 99% download it only showed as about 2.4 Mb. |
