Phone calls from Yosemite

While I can now easily make phone calls from iPad, when I try calling from Yosemite I have to click the icon five to ten times before it starts dialing. I wait a few seconds in between each click, assuming that it takes a bit of time to fire up.
Anyone else notice difficulty getting it to dial?
Thanks!

MVM,

Which icon? Where are you trying to dial from?

I just tried from Spotlight by searching a contact and pressing the phone icon next to the number that appeared. It took less than 3-4 seconds to connect the call.

The blue outline of a phone icon on the right side on mid2011 MacBook Air.

MVM,

But where? Right side of what?

Anyway.. does the FaceTime icon start jumping in the dock when you click on the phone icon? It makes the call via the FaceTime app, so it should open after you've successfully clicked the "dial" button.

Just tried it five times and it fired up right away.
Dang, during Power Nap, my MBA must have read this thread, connected to the internet, researched the issue and fixed itself overnight.
