Verizon FiOS → [Networking] Adding a replacement router

I had my netgear n router for about 2 years for some reason i couldnt get the wireless performance i used to get so i decided to just keep the actiontec router supplied by verizon it seemed much faster and had better speeds performance any idea what can have gone wrong with my netgear n router?

1. Check for firmware upgrade.
2. Try changing the channel on the Netgear.

i checked all above seems like my n router is giving up

I just may run Ethernet cabling and discontinue the coax
