Re: 100 Mbit bonded now being offered (100 megs down/20 megs up)said by Damnnn :Unless you have many devices uploading files at the same time you will never notice benefit from 30 Mbps upload and as far as download is considered some people may notice an improvement from 25 to 50 Mbps but after that it's all just money in the pocket of the company. Speed is really just capacity so unless you have lots of devices using the same stream then there is no benefit to more capacity. When we were on the 25 Mbps download service we could not download any faster than 500 Kbps to 1 MB/s, but as soon as we upgraded to the 50 package we would get 3-5 MB/s so obviously we were not able to use the full 25 Mbps download forcing us to upgrade. All the Telus techs I have talked to have said to me anything over the 25 package is pointless for most people. Every time you post, you contradict yourself. Most people != everyone. There are people that can utilize it, leave it at that and stop giving a shit about what people do. |

Your point?
As ABtel says, "Just because YOU don't have a use for the speed doesn't mean others do not." For me, I don't necessarily need 50 or 100 Mbps at a personal level but with 5 users and about 15 or so devices (tablets, laptops, hardwired computers, a smart TV, etc.), it would be nice to have even more leeway and bandwidth to share amongst all my devices. |

I definitely don't 'need' the 100mbps package, but I'm going to get it anyways.
I could be playing Far Cry 4 right now if I had double the speed, but I still have to wait another half hour.

Be grateful you qualify for it as the majority of people who want your numbers can't have it yet and might not for a while. |

If no headroom on sync'd rate was held back if be getting my 100mbps This will be fixed in time, there is currently an issue with incorrect QoS being set for all Optik 100 bonded subscribers. Once it's fixed, you will get over 100mbps down on speedtest.net, if you are trained high enough. |

why would one want unlimited if there is no charge for going over a data cap? |
|
|
to Doonz
It's apparently 500 GB. I used to go over quite frequently on my 50 connection, but now that tvtorrents is gone, and my general lack of free time, I don't usually use more than 300-400 a month. As Fryst said, they aren't enforcing caps, but who knows what they're gonna do in the future.
I thought there was some talk before about unlimited for an extra $10 a month or something... |

Hey everyone just thought I would chime in here.
I talked to a rep last night. For $30 dollars you can add unmetered bandwidth to any of telus residential Internet plans. |

ya I'm not sure if my service can be fixed, Telus could not sync my modem any higher than 97xxxkbps down and 35xxxxkbps (which i believe is ok) upload. I'm 8 blocks away from the CO but its all copper, no fibre link, all cross connects all the way to my house unfortunately. They did try different profiles but just resulted in instability on the line. They've left me on "Telus 100" even though IMO im not getting close enough to promised speeds, they've discounted my service for 12mo in hopes it may be fixed by then. Oh well, paying less for 100 then i did for 50, cant complain. |

I come to this forum hoping to find possible solutions to problems, but the only thing I witness here is constant company marketing. I voice my opinion in this manner with the hope that when others come here looking for help they won't think by just upgrading their internet package will solve the problems they are having because nine out of ten times it will not. So back at you ... Stop concerning yourself with what I say and keep up the sales. One good thing I guess, by making you shake your fist at least you are getting some physical exercise. |
