[Internet] (Wa/I)s there a TWC internet outage?Hi! I noticed this started right before 9:40 AM PDT today, but before I went out. I did do a quick traceroute before it and noticed my traceroutes went in a loop (didn't write down their IP addresses and it was a few hops after my IP address so I don't know whose servers they were). I gave up and left to hope this was just temporary. However, it seems to be happening on and off from outside too to my home TWC's computer so far this morning. I did some traceroutings from various places from the outages: From a non-TWC ISP: C:\>tracert [deleted]
Tracing route to [deleted].socal.res.rr.com [deleted]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms [deleted]
2 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms [deleted]
3 26 ms 3 ms <1 ms [deleted]
4 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 39.GigabitEthernet2-0-2.GW7.LAX7.ALTER.NET [152.179.233.81]

Even the 76.91.[deleted] gateway IP address (after my cable modem at home) doesn't ping and traceroute from outside. It is similar to above traceroutes. Thank you in advance. :) |

They were having routing issues or something going on all over the country today that caused intermittent outages from about 11am-3pm EST.
Of course, the only thing that I saw it affect was connections to several sites/IPs of the company I work for...kept kicking me off of our VPN and caused intermittent outages for any of our customers attempting to get to our website, too. We had hundreds of calls from customers on TWC who couldn't get to our site. |

I didn't see any so far. |

I noticed some slowness connecting to websites, but wasn't affected greatly. I wasn't on a lot of websites today, so i may not have noticed the full effect. I played LOTRO for a little while without effort, BUT I did have trouble connecting, the first time it failed and booted me out which was unusual, but the 2nd time it worked fine. |

Noticed the same thing in the late afternoon in Los Angeles. Reminded me of the old forum thread "what the heck is going on in so-cal" |

I'm pretty sure there WAS an outage, based on connection logs of some of my apps that always run. Steam lost connection a few times out of the blue, but at the same time many websites were responding just fine and some websites just weren't. It almost seemed like something in the Los Angeles area was routing traffic wrong for a while.
All is fixed now though, no problems whatsoever. |

What was so strange was that I noticed the DNS entries for the sites I was attempting to connect to went missing every time it went down. Running a traceroute to the IPs showed it was stalling out at one of the RR routers. I didn't see any official mention of it...as far as I'm aware of, we weren't able to get anyone from Time Warner to confirm it, either. If you go to Down Detector, you can see there was a huge spike of issues around that time: » downdetector.com/status/ ··· -cable-2 |
