Yup sad indeed. As for the gun control props, probably none those would have prevented this (Probably used his parent's gun---my theory until facts come out)
It's more the culture of using weapons as a conflict solution. Not just on the reservation ( shooter and deceased victim were cousins in a large tribal family) but throughout American society even with gun control will probably take generations to think first about talking it out.
