Never. No seriously.
The max cox offers on D3 right now is 150/20. You don't need more than 8 channels for that. In fact, the more channels the more latency it will add. Unless your area has severe node saturation, having 12 channels should be plenty.
Just sit tight and enjoy your SB6183 |

I currently peak at 180/20 on premiere service. The sb6183 is capable of 16 down was just wondering. |

Just sit tight and enjoy your SB6183 Adding additional channels doesn't increase latency. said by Anonguy :Cox is currently lighting up 24 Downstreams in certain parts of AZ, SO it is coming. The SB6183 will bond 12 channels in the newer 12, and 24 downstream areas. It won't go into 16 channel mode until 32 downstreams are active. |

Any idea when 32 will be active in the Hampton/Williamsburg area? Also since cox is rolling out the gigablast internet, how will that be possible with the current modems limited to just under 700 megs? Docsis 3.1 is not even out. |

said by James18 :how will that be possible with the current modems limited to just under 700 megs? It won't be. 1Gbps is not being done currently with DOCSIS, just fiber and ethernet in new developments and apartment complexes only. Which means if you don't already have it, your not getting it Gigablast until DOCSIS 3.1 which is probably closer to end of 2015. |

So why is cox going to support docsis 3.1 instead of just rolling fiber to each residence that request it? Is this going to be the same as what verizon fios does with fiber support all 3 services in home? |

1 word; money. Also because why not support DOCSIS 3.1? Cox infrastructure is very different from town to town, and laying down fiber in some places isn't economical, or even possible. I don't think they will bring in everything via fiber, since that would mean changing how some of their systems work. |
