[Security] TravelersDoes any body have any experience with these pieces of shit? They drive around in shiny new trucks with Florida plates and go door to door ripping people off. It seems like they mostly prey on the elderly.
I had a customer the other day ask me to look at something on their panel. Next to the panel was a large green box with 6 lighted rocker switches. A piece of FNC was shoved into a knockout on the panel, and the two wires were double lugged to two breakers. The whole scammy contraption did absolutely nothing. I busted it open and it's all just bullshit show. The sad part: The previous owner had dementia. He paid over $5,000.00 for this. The receipt was still there. Of course, the Florida based "company" didn't really exist. |

What is the Device supposed to do? I'm assuming it was supposed to save them a bunch on their electric bill? |

It's not just these people.. there are a lot of low-life will take advantage of the elderly with dementia. The first got every single one of my dad's tools (he was a handyman around the house so had a lot of nice ones).. claiming they would just "borrow" and bring them back. Of course my dad had no name and couldn't remember but I suspect this lawn guy used to come around the neighborhood looking for work considering later he tried to get $1500 from my Mom for picking up leaves. Good thing she couldn't find her checkbook and told him to come back the next day. I took her checkbook after that just leaving a little cash for her and eventually she moved in with me. |

Mom said dad refused. No she refused and had mental illness dementia. She got taken by anyone and everyone. Dad over rode her as much as he could but he was not well. Cross mom she threw a two year old temper tantrum and dad got upset then he ended up in the hospital. But there are a few down where she lived that still are on my s list for taking advantage of her. Every time we put a stop on one mom would seek out someone else to help her, aka take advantage of her. |

If I understand it correctly, the box creates energy out of nothing and reduces emissions for some unknown reason.
A motor produces greenhouse gas? I know nothing about this but that seems odd to me. |

Wow, I can see why they target the elderly. That website is a grammatical mess. |

I'd love to see one of those SOB's try this on my wife's grandfather... he's 96 and sharp as a tack. Retired mechanical engineer; still does side work making technical drawings in AutoCAD ... His BS sensor would go off so fast the air would crackle - knowing him, he'd offer to redesign the thing for the scammer for a nominal fee and get them to pay HIM.
I have no use for the dregs of society like that... people who prey on children and the elderly are the lowest of the low. |

Thankfully, I have no experience with this. Thankfully, none of this has ever happened to me or mine. Personally, If I was pissed, I'd try to hire them and then do the unspoken.
I don't know, he fell down the stairs. |

Many of the Travellers are based out of the Carolina's and tend to show up after natural disasters. They have now branched out from just fraud to extortion. The come in and say they will do a job and then come back and say they want $3000 rather than the $500 that was agreed upon before. When the customer refuses they physically intimidate the victim into paying. Their "go to" scam was paving asphalt driveways and in reality they would patch a few holes and paint it with asphalt sealer while charging thousands of dollars. They are bad dudes...... |

The Green power box and other power factor correction scams usually proliferate when energy prices increase rapidly. During one of these periods an electrical engineer wrote an article about, why home power faction correction is not effective. He pointed out that the highest output motor in the home is typically the motor drives the AC compressor. If you review the article on Induction Motors at Wikipedia here: » en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In ··· on_motorYou will see as described in the article, when an induction motor is loaded to full capacity it's power factor approaches unity. Motors driving pumps/refrigeration/AC systems in the home are typically operated under full load conditions. Therefore power factor CORRECTION provides no significant benefit. Based on the above information the magic power factor correction box is obviously a scam. |

I have no doubt this particular product is 100% scam, but the idea of using capacitors to move the PF closer to 1 is valid. Homeowners aren't charged for reactive power, though, so The Box seems pointless, and certainly won't save any money, even if it did work. |

its not only this its the elderly with dementia period, there's one case that a elderly man signed over a bank book savings $80,000 he was overseas the family lived in the USA. if any family member mother/father has dementia. Go to court and have their rights to all financials checking /saving paying their bills etc taking away from them!!! they can do anything live in their home because you're in charge its better then them signing over their house... |
