I love LibreOffice. When I first tried it, it was then so much fun to uninstall MS Office.

The primary difference as far as I'm concerned is the polish. LibreOffice is too quick to offer new functions and features while the OpenOffice path is tried and true, more reliable for users.

I suggest LibreOffice to young folk and enthusiasts while OpenOffice for standard users.

Open Office was ground breaking.

Then it got political and development fell apart.

The original crew made Libre Office which took over as champion.

Actually, Libreoffice does consider the wants of you "old folk" too. If you prefer a more mature version you can use the "Still" version which is one version older but still supported as opposed to the "Fresh" version which is the latest release.

I use both on different machines and for my wants and needs............don't see much difference.

OO does take a little longer to open.

Interesting.

I jump to LibreOffice at the beginning, been with it ever since. When Apache took over OpenOffice I considered it, but stayed with LibreOffice.
