Good info. I never use rest/standby and hadn't run across that.

I was pleased to see the the capture gallery can now trim clips and I was able to wipe out that heavyweight video editor.

Shit. I updated the console last night, played some Destiny, and put it in Rest mode before I went to bed. Wonder if I'll be able to turn it on tonight...

Just fucking great... Played some BF4 last night and put to rest to recharge controller and headset. Between this and the periodic problem I've been having where my disc ejected while in standby for no good reason, I'm reminded why I usually wait until later to pickup newly released consoles.

I haven't checked to see if mine is affected but it's the first thing I'll do when I get home.

Thanks for the info.

I hope you all are fine, seems like they should have a patch ASAP.

Mine was affected, but after forcing shut-down and after a boot time hdd scan, I was able to get to the home screen. Hopefully there's nothing else wrong as a result. After having a YLOD on my fat PS3 and having to replace it, if my PS4 goes belly up, I'm never buying a Sony product ever again.

I still have my fat boy PS3 I bought in 2008, thankfully no YLOD (yet). Doesn't get much use these days except for as a blu ray player. I did however go through the RROD on the 360. Only once, so that puts me ahead of most everyone else :P .

I just sold my fat 80 GB PS3 from 2007 (soft back-compat) on Craigslist, still going strong and pretty quiet for that generation.

After hearing in another forum that the "rest" bug only affected some users the first time they put it in that mode, I've put mine to rest twice since the first time and each time it won't wake and I have to forcibly shut down, requiring a file system check every time it boots. Pretty lame. On top of that, my PS4 like to turn on randomly and spit out the disc (touchy eject button problem, I think). Woke up this morning with the PS4 and my receiver turned on with the disc ejected. Rather annoying.

I've put my PS4 into rest mode multiple times without an issue.

Thanks for the info.

Yeah this happened to me already.

To avoid it, I simply choose to shut it down. It still turns on using the controller, so...I'm cool. When they release a fix, that's cool too.

2.01 update is out. Patches the rest mode bug, thankfully since it appears my console was the exception when it came to, "it only happened the first time".

If it allows it...I'll wait till it has a go around with a few users before I take the step.

It looks to be optional, I wasn't forced to update before it would let me sign in. I pulled the trigger and all is well, but I really hope they didn't screw the pooch in some other area I have yet to stumble upon. But I'm happy to report, my rest mode problem has been resolved with this patch.

I patched it and tested and it works fine again. I did have the issue, but not immediately.

This isn't a new bug at all. My PS4 has been doing this since launch. Not very often, but it's happened at least once every other month or so. I hope the update fixes it for good.

Getting really OT now: It would be nice if you could post pictures and videos to your PSN stream without first creating/connecting a Facebook or YouTube account.
