[Speed] Comcast speeds in CA

Click for full size
I recently moved to San Mateo, CA and ordered Performance tier service. Comcast's website claims this is supposed to be 50/10 but I consistently get 60/6 in speed tests. The teir 1 techs want to schedule a truck roll for this but I'm pretty sure my line is fine and it's my speed cap which is set incorrectly. Either that or they're lying about their speeds, reading around I've seen mixed reports about what speeds others in my area get.

So, what's the actual performance teir speed supposed to be in my area and so you think a truck roll might help resolve this?

I'm pretty sure Performance in upgraded areas is 50/5.

50/10 per the FAQ

"Blast: 50 Mbps / 10 Mbps [50000 Kbps / 10000 Kbps] ( DOCSIS 3.0 tier )"

Let them roll the truck

Yeah, Oedipus is right, if memory serves Performance is 50/5-6 after the upgrade and you're getting exactly what you're supposed to until Performance is upgraded again. (60/6) If you want faster, you'll want to upgrade to either Blast (105/10) or Extreme (150/20)

Speeds on Blast vary from 105/10 to almost 130/12. And Extreme is anywhere from 150/20 to almost 180/22-25.

Hope that helps you.

Yes, only download speeds were updated for performance. Upload stays the same.

Upgraded areas
Performance 50/5
Blast 105/10
Extreme 150/20

Non-upgraded areas
Performance 25/5
Blast 50/10
Extreme 105/20

Comcast recently bumped their over-provisioning to 25%.

50 + 25% = 62.5
5 + 25% = 6.25

OP is getting exactly what he should.

Unless you are in Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, Isleton, Lodi and Rio Vista in CA in which case

Performance is 16/2
Blast 25/4

»corporate.comcast.com/ne ··· nd-texas

I wonder if these orphaned areas in California will get upgrades soon? We are 2 upgrades behind and our Blast download is 1/4 of the download speed of the upgraded areas in California........

Interesting about Comcast bumping their over-provisioning to 25%.

I have noticed recently that Blast in Santa Cruz County is now consistently ~30 Mpbs down (up from between 28 - 29 Mbps before). Not quite 25% but still a small improvement.

I should qualify that statement: I *heard* they bumped their over provisioning, and my personal tests on mine, my better half's and my parents connections seem to confirm it. I used to top at 126, now I top at 131. They used to hit 58 and now they hit 62.

Yeah. Aptos. Blast:

Upstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 4816 Kbps.

Downstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 27066 Kbps.

We seem to have lost our little bump with the SB6141 fix.

Summit Rd area of Santa Cruz County. Blast

Upstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 4816 Kbps.

Downstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 30202 Kbps

The download has been a little higher at around 30 Mbps for last few days (up from 28 - 29 Mbps before)

What little bump did you see with the SB6141 fix?
