Dell Trays

So I'm populating the MD1000 and I've found that I don't have enough spare trays. Can I use the 11th and 12th generation (R710/R720) 3.5" trays, or am I stuck with the 2950/1950 generation trays?

If the 11th/12th gen trays are like the ones in my C2100 then I don't think so. However, I do have three 2950s. one of which is a 3.5" model. I used old 2600/2850 series SCSI trays, there's a blue nub on them that isn't present on the 2950 trays but with sufficient force, it'll fit

Makes sense. Does it matter if they are SAS/SATAu trays? I have a couple of those for the R610 but I plan on using SATA drives. I remember the older generation needed an interposer, which worries me for the generic "SATA/SAS" labels.

I'm honestly not sure about the newer trays. My only experience with the 11th/12th gen trays is in the C2100 (I think they are the same from what I have seen) and they were already SATA trays (have 3TB 7.2K SATA on the labels) but SATA and SAS should share mounting points so there shouldn't be anything different between the trays from a technical standpoint.
