C1000A New Firmware

I see that there is new firmware available for the C1000A. I am using a C1000Z now but have a C1000A on standby. Does the new firmware list attenuation and loop length available? Old firmware listed attenuation and loop length as N/A. Just wondering.

Just updated to firmware CAC002-31.30L.74 without issue. Thanks for posting.

. o O (I wonder what was changed)

PS: I had CAC001-31.30L.8 before this. I've only had this modem for about 6 months and have never updated it's firmware before.

Do you mean this (DSL page)?

Based on this post: »Intermittent DSL problems it looks like it does show attenuation and loop length numbers, and they may have sort of fixed the usage metering problems that the C1000a had before (where the meter was really more like a speedometer or tachometer than an actual record of how much you've used in a day or in total.)

Yes, thats what I am looking for. Hate to fire up the C1000A when the C1000Z is doing so good.

Well, I did switch out the C1000Z for the C1000A to update the firmware. No problems updated the firmware. It does appear the new firmware was updated to be more compatible with VDSL2.

One thing this new firmware does new is try to do IPv6 DNS lookups for

CenturyLink Search Guide

198.105.244.23 (in NYC)
198.105.254.23 (in LA)

presumably to phone home stuff to CL. In my case my modem doesn't have an IPv6 address so it sends it to one of my PC's (that does IPv6) and that sends it back to my (non CL) router.

FYI just noticed that CAC002-31.30L.76 is now available (wasn't a few days ago).

»qwest.centurylink.com/in ··· L.76.img

I don't know what was changed but one bug I'd noticed with CAC002-31.30L.74 is that the modem was saying "Update firmware" even though the latest (at that time) was loaded. However with CAC002-31.30L.76 it's now saying "Firmware is up to date".

All I know is after I updated my iPad and iPhone to iOS8, my C1000A-D0 would lock up if I had IPV6 enabled. After the firmware updates, this no longer happens. This also affected the C1000A at my mother's house.
