IMO the default for all A/V programs should be "ask" when they detect something they think is malware. Of course that won't stop ignorant users clicking "yes"/"quarantine"/"fix" anyway but it's better, IMO, than stuff just disappearing.
Reminds me of a time I was using Cygwin, several of whose binaries get flagged by AVG. I didn't notice that an AVG dialog requesting action had popped up in the corner of the desktop and stolen focus, so after I pressed "Enter", it corrupted my cygwin install. Ugh.
