CRTC Wholesale hearingCRTC is considering whether to stop requiring wholesale, whether to require wholesale access to FTTH, as well as a bunch of other issues. Competition Bureau up right now. Frankly pathetic and out of touch in stating theres no reason to mandate FTTH. All up on CPAC. » www.cpac.ca/en/direct/cpac2/#EDIT: Right after posting, they mentioned that Wireless is not a good alternative to expensive wireline price increases. Their one & only good point. |

It's shaping up to be a CRTC / indumbent mutual masterbation hearing. |

Comepetition Bureau lacks imagination - can't do an analysis on FTTH because there's no data, therefore it's not in their domain to examine anything |

Hey Indumbents: Blais is looking quote pale. Maybe he should be flown to Barbados for a round of golf. |

He refuses to say anything unless he has the facts, but that's never stopped the incumbents from lying through their teeth. |

Blais gets that a local loop is just that - a local loop irrespective of who uses it. Competition Bureau thinks a local loop is a local loop if business uses it, but it's a banana if a residential customer uses it. |

Now we're on a slippery slope of whether slower services are a different thing than higher speed service - ie. copper vs. fiber |

Oh jeez now bundling is good, if it provides a good value to the customer.
IT NEVER IS A GOOD VALUE, you get locked down. |

Without regulated access, FTTH is a magic wand that incumbents can wave to eliminate competition. |

If the CRTC listened only to the CompBureau, they could halt the hearing today and rule in favour of everything the indumbents want. |

Rogers put 4 or 5 spools of Fiber in the ground around my building this summer.. Easily 10 buildings in a small area.. Would be a perfect spot to do FTTH.. At which point... I have no choice if Teksavvy doesn't have access to FTTH, and Rogers pulls their non-fiber. |

How am I supposed to bundle when I don't have any other service... Dry loops or those who live on the net.. |

It's speed matching all over again. We once went 5 years without access to the latest speeds. Back then they claimed next-generation services... This is the same thing all over again. |

According to most, the incumbents are doing it wrong and need guys like us to make sure you guys are properly taken care of. |

Seems like the CompBureau is all in favour of having one to watch. Then afterwards they can state, "Yep we were wrong about sitting back to just monitor the situation. Oh well." |

When Shaw and Rogers switched territories I switched to DSL (even tried Bell since they offered a money back) when I asked why I was only getting 2.5mb on a 5mb connection, they offered to "upgrade me" to 5mb.
I then went TPIA and haven't looked back since. |

This turd is something else.
He needs a couple years of data, he wants to see if seasons affect it..to provide an analysis. WTF? |

Hughes from CompBureau reminds me of the mathematician......
An engineer and a mathematician were standing at a wall in a big room and a gorgeous naked woman was brought in and stood on the opposite wall. The two men were told to take steps towards the woman, halving the distance between them and the woman with each step.
The mathematician complained, "In the limit, we'll never reach the woman." The engineer said, "That may be true but we'll get close enough for all practical purposes." |
