Yeah they got new ownership, they've fired people, they're trying to become just like everyone else and lose their edge, and the contract is up. So they want more money. Once the contract is up with the other providers, the same thing will happen. |

I would just say (If they could) F you for now and put on 64 but stay at the table |

Can they do that?
I guess I don't understand the "must carry" rules. How can that be enforced if they also "must pay"?
Putting channel 64 from Providence on would be fine with me. |

Mmmm, a set of rabbit ears (or a coathanger) and Thom would be all set. Fox25 broadcast signal is picked up by my aunt in NH, with only an "leaf" antenna.
As a FIOS subscriber, I want VZ to keep these kinds of things in check. I just wish they would do it with others (like the article-mentioned ESPN). Enough with the rate hikes! |

This article is quite interesting » www.newenglandone.com/ne ··· ios.htmlEspecially the part about Fox 25 charging less than ESPN. ESPN charges Verizon $6/month/subscriber???? I'm paying $72/year for ESPN? Yikes. I don't watch ESPN enough for that to be worth it. Can you say "a-la-carte"? |

Seems to happen a lot with FOX affiliates. |

Didn't it recently happen with ABC/ESPN? And with the Weather Channel (NBC)? |

You may be thinking of DirecTV (Weather Channel) and ABC (on Comcast I think prior to some awards show). I don't think FiOS ever has gotten to the point where they (temporarily) drop content because of a dispute, except possible with some locals. |

Right, I meant in general. This kind of thing happens with various providers and various channels |

Aren't they a competitor to Verizon? |

Putting channel 64 from Providence on would be fine with me. I don't think they can just put on another Fox affiliate from another market. |

I don't get the "we're cheaper than ESPN" argument. ESPN is a national network and as such, I would expect it to be more expensive than a local network. |

Yes, but Fox is a national network and WFXT is just a local affiliate of that network. But I still wouldn't compare it to ESPN. ESPN is outrageously expensive because it's a sports network. |

after midnight and still on |

if no deal is reached by 3 a.m. on Thursday, November 27, 2014 (Thanksgiving Day), you will lose live access to the shows, sports and local news on FOX 25 you rely on and which you are paying for. |

In this case, not really, as Cox doesn't provide service anywhere within WFXT's area. They only serve three towns in MA, one in the Springfield market and two in the Providence market, and all in all three towns they carry the local affiliate rather than WFXT. In fact, none of the stations Cox owns are in markets where they compete with Verizon. There's no competitive advantage to gain here. |

I have a HD antenna for my TV and am getting Fox 25. The bag guys in this is COX. I'm already paying almost $200 a month for the extreme package and am looking for alternatives to cable TV. |

Feel free to write to Verizon telling them you have no problem with them doubling or tripling your cable bill as you would rather they roll over and pay the 3x, 5x, or even 10x increase these stations demand every time the contract is up instead of experiencing some minor inconvenience during negotiations. |
