Odd that Vaders burnt helmet would even appear, considering it was burnt in a pyre on Endor in that last movie ... I doubt Luke brought it back to Tatooine for the funeral then ran back to Endor again for the celebrations ... you know what I mean, eh? Wouldn't really be any point to recovering the chared remains of Vader's helmet for anything after that.

Then again this is in a galaxy far far away ... also a long long time ago ... so ... anything is possible. They's be nutty!

It isn't Tatooine. Confirmed that the desert planet is Jakku.

His remains/armor could be considered an artifact of importance to someone dark-side related, maybe.

When I was a much younger man, the original movie had a limited release on Wednesday, May 25, 1977 in a small number of cities, including my home, Washington, D.C. (no more than 32 theaters nationwide, and eight more on Thursday and Friday, according to Wikipedia). Based on a rave review in the Washington Post, I decided to see it on opening night.

I didn't even own a car at the time, so I took the Metrobus up Connecticut Avenue to the Uptown theater to see the 10:00 PM show. The line was a mile long and the 10:00 PM show was sold out. Theater management hastily scheduled a midnight show, so I stood in line for a few hours with many other very excited people. When we finally got in and the movie started, the crowd went nuts over that initial scene when the gigantic empire ship flew by. The vibe of the crowd seemed to be "Ah, the wait was worth it."

I was so ga-ga that I called friends in Philadelphia and said "You have to come to D.C. this weekend to see this great new movie!!!" and they did, and I saw it again with them.

I wonder if this edition will resurrect that type of excitement. Judging from the trailer, the potential is there.

Is it me or does Chewbacca's face look CGI? Also saw some of the "Star Wars celebration thing on youtube and Peter Mayhew walked out on stage and he's holding what looks like a cane done up like light saber, and sat right down in a chair where everyone else stood. He looked like he has problems walking and standing. At age 70 and being so tall one would expect some problems. I wonder how he got through filming The Force Awakens?

That was a really funny movie.

I think there may be two levels of fan expectations here; people who just saw the 6 Lucas movies, and people who also read most of the authorized fiction books written about the period long after those movies. there are dozens of books about Luke reestablishing the Jedi order, potential Sith lord re-emergence, Laya's involvement with Galactic politics and the force strong children she had with Hans. as one of those book readers, it may be fun to see all these high def visuals, and nostalgic to see those aging cast member, but I won't know if JJ Abrams fumbles the Lucas authorized story line till I see the movie this December. How they cast and wrote for Laya/Hans children development into the next 3 movie arch will be critical to these films success. anyone with LucasArts authorization and a $5,000 computer can CGI star wars content on the big screen. I don't want the new movies to be those books, but I don't want them to diverge too far off either.

I personally hope they discard the extended SW canon and expand on their own.

Peter's Mayhew's lightsabre-cane is a real assistive device.

There was a story not long ago about it here

I just find it hard to visualize a wookie as a Jedi, not that it couldn't happen. And even worse a wookie sith lord, imagine that?

Thanks for that.

I guess they work around his mobility problems and use camera angles or use a stunt double maybe.

ALL WILL BEHOLD MY CUTENESS AND DESPAIR wait is that jerky?

Although Francis is a comedic character created by this Youtuber, this video is amazing and I think probably sums up a lot of peoples' opinions on that trailer. Plus it's funny as hell.

Spoiler alart!!!!

If accurate this contains plot leaks of Star Wars The Force Awakens. I found it to be an interesting narrative either way but be warned.

If accurate

It contradicts the 30 year future outline of pretty much ever Lucas authorized book ever written, where Luke reestablishes the Jedi order and Leia goes into politics and raises 3 force sensitive kids with Han, while Chewie returns back to a new homeworld. Luke keeps R2D2 while Leah keeps C3PO.

The only consistent element is that Leia and Hans oldest son does eventually get corrupted by the dark side of the force, while his younger sisters remain on the light side.
