Why is the number of Apple users in your company growing? Is it because of some directive or is it because Macs are stylish?

It's probably because they're more productive using them. The computer a person uses is simply a tool. If the user has a tool they know how to use and like, they'll be more productive.

Instead of pissing about the computers that have to be supported, it's probably best to concentrate on how to provide the best level of support you can to make your customers productive. IT people exist to make their customers productive; you have a job because your customers have a job.

I agree with the above. An IT department who always says "NO" isn't a good IT department. You have to move with the times, and if the times say it is time for Apple Mac computers, then that's what needs to happen.

That said, however, an IT department should have some input to as to how things are done, and not just blindly say "YES" to management either. There may not be a cost benefit to using Apple computers for instance, and it may cost the IT department more money to purchase and maintain them. Additionally, it may cost more time to deploy applications, and perhaps it will cost a lot more money to have a system that can also deploy applications to Mac computers. There has to be some sort of standard. This standard can include Apple computers, but your management needs to know exactly how much it is going to cost to support Apple computers.
