Anybody having issues with Google servers?

Two days ago at about 4 P.M. my connection to pretty much all of Google's servers took a huge nose dive. The most noticeable is Gmail and YouTube. The sites work but my connection to them is going up and down like crazy. I have my network monitor up and when trying to load either site my connection goes from full utilization down to just a couple hundred kilobits back up to full and sometimes even down to zero like it completely disconnects for a second and then comes back and repeats.

At first I thought it was just congestion but i'm having this issue no matter what time of day or night it is. I did a traceroute to Google, Gmail, and YouTube, several times and they all turned up normal results. I'm only having issues with Google services, no other sites are having issues.

Anybody else having any issues?

My location is South Central Missouri, if that helps.

Trace complete.

I also did more traces to Youtube, Google and Gmail Ip addresses and every one of them came back pings like what is above. Some even had pings of up to 2000 ms.

Is this an issue of bad routing? I was hoping it was something that would get resolved within a few days but it doesn't appear to be getting any better. I use my Gmail a lot so this is a major frustration.

No. I only showed my first two outbound hops because my second hop has a reasonable RTT of 21 ms to 23 ms, vs. your RTT at 441 ms to 654 ms.

You are showing high RTTs real close to your connection; either the CenturyLink network is congested, or you have uninvited "guests" sucking your bandwidth.

I can confirm no one is on my network (I only use wired) so it must be congestion or maybe faulty equipment. Its literally happening 24 hours a day with no let ups. I'll contact Centurylink and see what they say.

So the problem is indeed congestion. St. Louis servers are getting ddosed pretty hard and causing some serious congestion issues. The day I started having issues is the day a massive new set of attacks started and are still happening quite frequently. Since I'm very close to St. Louis and have quite a bit of my traffic routed through there i'm very much affected by it. The person I spoke too didn't want to say this is 100% my problem but said that the timing is to perfect for it not to be related.

That could have just been an excuse to get me off the phone but I did speak with a family member who uses Charter, and they are having the same issues, So i'm inclined to believe that really is the issue right now.
