Could comcast have done something to MY modem to screw it up?
If so could I get comcast to undo what they did or would a hard reset to the modem work or do I need to get a wireless modem and plug it into the Zoom?
Any "modem" that is connected to the Comcast network is totally under their control. If your "modem" is also a wireless gateway, then Comcast has total control of your router and its wireless AP. That is just part of the deal when you have Internet service through any cable provider.
If doing a factory reset on your Zoom 5350 and manually setting it up again to your needs doesn't fix the new problem, then you will indeed probably need to put it into bridge mode (or have Comcast do it if that device does not give you that option), and attach a standalone wireless
router (which Comcast can't muck with) to the Zoom 5350.
Hopefully, all Comcast did with their "reset" was to set your wireless SSID (and other WiFi settings) to factory defaults, and you should be able to correct that by connecting via Ethernet. But it is also possible that a newer Comcast specific firmware was pushed to your Zoom 5350 that totally screwed up its WiFi capabilities.
