AT&T U-Verse price increase

AT&T to hike U-verse TV, broadband rates in 2015

AT&T (NYSE: T) is using the holiday season to "thank" its customers with planned rate hikes for both U-verse TV and broadband services that will go into effect early next year.
According to a company web post for U-verse users, AT&T will tack on a $3-a-month increase for nine of its U-verse packages: U-family, U100, U200, U200 Latino, U300, U300 Latino, U400, U450 and U450 Latino.
In addition, the service provider is raising its "Broadcast TV Surcharge" from $2 to $3 in the majority of the markets it serves. AT&T said the increase is being done to recover a portion of the amount each market's local broadcasters charge the telco to carry their channels.
"The increases are due to higher costs of programming and service delivery and will appear in billing statements beginning on February 1, 2015," said AT&T in the post on its U-verse user site.
AT&T will also increase the rental cost of each additional non-DVR TV receiver by $1 a month, while the company's Pro, Elite, Max, Max Plus, Max Turbo, Power and 75 U-Verse tiers will all be seeing a $1 increase in most markets.
However, any customer that's currently on a U-verse promotion won't see a price increase until their promotion ends or expires.
