Alternatives to the free McAfee that's ending 12/31/14

Can anyone recommend a decent free security program that can be used to replace the free McAfee that was provided by AT&T ends on 12/31/14?
Thanks

AVG,Microsoft Security Essentials, Bitdefender, Avast, Kaspersky(not sure if there's a free version), etc.

Really, anything is better than McAfee :P.

AFAIK there is no free version of Kaspersky, however, if one watches the sales on Amazon one can get the latest version of KIS for about $10 - $20.

Was just coming to post that for the CT folks.

Like Darknessfall indicates anything is better than the free stripped down McAfee (or Norton) that the ISP's provide to their users. There are a variety of paid and free alternatives.

Here are several free alternatives:
Microsoft Security Essentials: »windows.microsoft.com/en ··· download
Comodo Free Internet Security: »www.comodo.com/home/inte ··· rity.php
AVG Free: »free.avg.com/us-en/homepage
Avast: »www.avast.com/en-us/index
Avira Free Antivirus: »www.avira.com/en/avira-f ··· ntivirus
BitDefender Antivirus Free Edition: »www.bitdefender.com/solu ··· ree.html
Ad-Aware Free Antivirus+: »www.lavasoft.com/product ··· free.php

Currently evaluating Panda.

Been using free Avira for about 8 years though with few issues.

It's getting close to 12/31/14. Just wanted to double check. I pretty sure I'll go with one of these 3. Panda, Avira or Microsoft?
Any more input from anyone?
Thanks

I use Malwarebytes and like the program. I've been reading up on other products, the latest version of MSE has taken a hit in a lot of reviews, finishing last. They say older versions were much better. I'm still reading up...lol

I ended up going with Bitdefender free. Reviews were good.
