It's just a type of remote, Bell has two types, Lucent Stingers (older, buggier, not fully VDSL2 compliant) and Alcatel 7330's, newer, fully standardized and compliant remotes, hence any modems work on them...

Stingers required custom firmware modems to run on VDSL2. They also had some issues on ADSL1/2.

To be a little more accurate, they're DLSAMs that can be found in remotes or COs

omg seriously i had this same exact problem, my friend gave me his smartrg from teksavvy he was using vdsl but then he moved out of the country. i flashed it with the adsl bridge config.

ii had 15/1 installed and it didnt synch but bell guys modem was working. teksavvy wanted to sell me another modem i didnt want to i didnt even get a refund and went back to bell.

what a waste!

I know that feeling, smartrg.

I also feel HiVolt should be credited for this.
I'm sure I'm not the first person experiencing this issue. It was all in the Teksavvy ADSL config file. I'm not sure how the original file looks like.

Looks like TekSavvy have updated the ADSL bridged & routed configs.
