Meanwhile...

They continue to have the rest of their speed tiers at ridiculous pricing. $45 a month for 10Mbps (non-promotional)?

Right now they've got holiday promotional pricing... for new customers only. See here: »www.cincinnatibell.com/internet/

$70 a month for gigabit service. $45 a month for 50Mbps (same price as what we're paying right now for 10Mbps). The price is only good for 12 months mind you. Of course what they don't tell you is they're raising all existing customers' rates. On the latest bill there's some nice little comments at the end saying that internet service is increasing by $3 and phone service is increasing by $1.99, effective Dec. 15th. There it is. They're jacking everyone else's rates to offset the lower revenue from new signups under the holiday promotion. What a joke. Our bill is around $85 a month for internet (10Mbps) and home phone, all BS fees and taxes included. Now it's going to be $90 a month.

Their whole pricing structure is completely out of control. Add the fact that FTTN service (which often has a whole host of problems due to last-mile copper) is lumped under the same "Fioptics" umbrella as FTTH with no distinction between the two and it's just one big fustercluck. They claim this is the "new face of Cincinnati Bell" or whatever jargon they've spewed. I'm certainly not seeing it. Color me unimpressed.
