[motherboard] nvstor.sys crashes. Can't update Nvidia SATA drivers

Windows 7 home ultimate
Mobo - ASRock N68C-S UCC

Issue - random BSOD. Most frequently if I try to download anything from any browser but it also BSOD at other times.
I get multiple different stop codes but most often I see at the bottom a reference to nvstor.sys

I reinstalled windows a while back hoping that would help but it didn't.

I used to have an NVidia graphics card and thought it might be the problem so I replaced it with an AMD card. No difference. Still get BSOD. I did completely wipe the old NVidia drivers and software.

After doing a bit of research I found that this is likely caused by the NVidia SATA drivers.
So, off I go to the ASRock site (»www.asrock.com/mb/NVIDIA ··· &os=Win7) and find what I think are the right drivers.
Download and run setup.exe and I get BSOD.
Tried setup again and it won't run. Gives me an error.

So I tried just updating the drivers manually. Pointed it to the folder with the new drivers in it. Windows tells me I already have the best drivers installed.
The driver package from ASRock is 3/5/2010 Windows® 7 NVIDIA SATA2 driver ver:11.1.0.30

The driver I have installed is 10.6.0.18

Am I missing something here? Doing something wrong?
Here are screenshots of the device manager and the driver details

Please clarify what exact version of win 7 you have?

What is the model of the Nvidia disk controller in use on your MB?

Windows 7 Home Ultimate 32 Bit. Sorry, I left off the 32 bit on my OP.

How would I find the model of the Nvidia disk controller?

Have you tried using safe mode to download/install the latest set of drivers you've found?

No I haven't. I have the drivers downloaded but Windows thinks it has better drivers than ASRock. I want to make sure I have the right drivers. And with XP you could force Windows to use a different driver but 7 isn't giving me that option.

You can manually pick the older driver version to install in Win7, but you have to choose the option to manually pick the inf file, rather than having Windows scan for drivers. As long as you don't also remove the checkbox from "show only compatible drivers", it won't give you the option to install something that won't work with the hardware.

Got the version 11 drivers installed. Thanks for the help. Not sure yet if it fixed the issue. Time will tell.
Strange that the higher version number is actually older.
The other thing is did is move the SATA controller from Storage Controllers to IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers in the device manager.
