Re: [Hockey] official:World jr hockey threadThat Slovak goalie was stellar in the win over Finland. Shots were something like 40-12 for Finland. |

German's play a different style than we're used to...............the Finns and yanks should be more free wheeling and open hockey. Max Domi is a little dynamo. |

I saw him play last month in Mississauga against our Steelheads and I concur.
Good article in Torstar today about the obscene price of tickets for this tournament. $100 a pop for a seat? These guys may become NHL'ers in a year or two but not right now. |

lol...it's not the players who are asking for the $$$...the World Juniors Tournament makes great money for the host...it's a business. |

Never said it was the players asking for the money. And given the shitty attendance figures for some of the games, I hope the organizer's greed turns around and bites them in the ass. |

Going to be in Toronto on Jan 2 and have to say I think i'll be watching the game(s) in our hotel room. The 3pm and 8pm quarter final games start at $79.25 in the upper bowl and $182.25 for lower bowl seats. Not going to happen |

Yet, in 2009 when the IIHF U20 was in Ottawa the CTC and Civic Centre were well filled / full for almost every game (even two European team games) and the prices were reasonable.
I think having the round-robin in one city and the playoffs in another is a very stupid way of doing things, and it'll reverse next year with the round robin in TOR and playoffs in MTL, so we'll have another year of ticket prices that are crazy and attendance that is lacklustre. |

When the entire tournament was in Ottawa, it was at the CTC (19,500) and the Civic Centre (9,300).
It's bad enough that there are still tickets available for Canada-Denmark tonight, but there are still tickets available for CAN vs USA on NYE -- unbelievable. |

It'll probably sell out for that game, cause that is one game I would pay to see. |

I was at the CAN-USA game in 2009 ( here are pics from the game), and it was an amazing evening.....even before JT's hat-trick. |

you think that is expensive?
shaner and i went to the Gold Medal game between Canada and Sweden (was it Sweden?) in the (i think) 2004 World Cup of Hockey...our Manager was given tickets to it, but she had no interest in hockey and knew i did, so she gave me the tickets...i had to take someone who loved hockey as equally as i do, so i asked shaner to come with me...i remember when we were walking up the ACC, we looked at the tickets and noticed the $690 price on them (i still have the ticket stubs at home)...we jokingly contemplated scalping the tickets, keeping the cash, and catching it in a local pub instead...but then decided not to since we'd likely get in shit for doing that, and honestly, it would be a game to remember...it was. |

The only tickets left for the gold medal game are 100 level corners ($269-405) -- where were yours? Prime seats for that game are going for well over $1000 on Stubhub. |

Great pics,Tavarres was unconcious in that game. I remember jumping off the couch a few times during that game.......one of the most memorable performances along with Eberle and Toews. |

My ticket for the IIHF U20 CAN-USA game was in the Alcatel box.
The World Cup has more in common with the Stanley Cup playoffs than it does with the World Junior Championship with regards to the players involved and the ticket prices. |
