Cogeco about to switch us to digital. Does Bell usually follow suit?

Currently, DSL in my area only goes up to 6mbps. In your experience, when a cable provider forces a neighborhood to switch to digital, does Bell usually follow suit by increasing their speeds to be able to offer Bell Fibe in that neighborhood?

I don't know about what they normally do in this case, but here, Cogeco switched to Digital about a year ago, and we're still stuck with ADSL2 speeds (25mbps).

They are independent technologies and have nothing to do with one another.

The OP realizes that, I'm sure. He's talking about a competitive environmental factor, not a technological one.

It would help to have an idea of where the OP lived.

Chatham - like Fort Erie, Kingston, Port Colborne and a few other places - is in the process of a FTTH overbuild. Some areas are live already.

Any idea on timing? They've been telling me about an upgrade since I moved here in 2007. Well it's 7 years later. Bell has to have pretty much killed their customer base in places like this other than the senior citizens who still pay for their Bell land line.

Yes, that's it.
I live in a town in Lac-St-Jean. The town isn't too far from civilization. However, I've learned that it often doesn't matter.

No idea. I don't even know the timeline here in Fort Erie and the only information I ever get is when I see Aecon start digging and a new CSP pop up.

Absolutely none, Bell keeps it all a big secret. Unless you get a flyer in the mail or see Bell working in your neighbourhood.

I actually qualify for 10 or more, but Bell won't sell anything faster than 6...
