It's a patch to correct a botched update (KB3008923)... » support2.microsoft.com/k ··· /3025390It's the new Microsoft way, no more QC. Tuesday's updates are for beta testing and the real deal is after one or two weeks... |

At least it didn't require a reboot. |

Was wondering why ESET was alerting me! So do we wait until it's pulled from Windows Update and hope Rev.2 is okay as the QC department screwed up by letting a new temp deploy it to Windows Update? |

I thought about disabling it... but then it turned out to be a nice surprise! Alerted to a missing update in which I had no idea was even released! But then again, I usually come here first. lol |

At my workplace, I use WSUS to apply updates to 30 peoples and wait 1 week, then across the office and finally to production machines and my computers at home the next week. |

I read this. I have IE 10. But then I started up Win10 Preview and saw there was an IE 11 update waiting to be installed. It wasn't this IE 11 update though...it was ANOTHER one that fixed something that was broken in the earlier IE Cumulative update for Win 10 preview. I rebooted and it took forever to finish installing. Then shades of R2 problem Windows Defender somehow got turned off during the patch install and it wouldn't turn back on. I kept trying and finally it turned on. (It's stupid of Microsoft to not visibly alert the user when Windows Defender is turned off. I saw it was off only because I was checking the GUI to see if the definitions had updated. It was all red and screaming about being turned off but that is visible ONLY if you have reason to open the GUI...otherwise, you have no way of knowing it is off and who would think a Microsoft patch for IE would kill Windows Defender so probably you wouldn't check Defender). It was wacky and having Windows Defender messed with by a Microsoft patch that was installed to fix an earlier Microsoft patch...well...gee....this is just all so much fun. |

Many people haven't been able to find the KB article, and they're cautious about installing a patch simply because it magically appeared in Windows Update, with no explanation -- very sloppy, Microsoft. Microsoft ships KB 3025390 to fix IE11 screwups in KB 3008923 |

On my system, the only thing this new update replaces is ieUnatt.exe in both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of C:\Windows\System32
This patch is probably safe. After all, what more could get borked by replacing only one .exe file? (/sarcasm:off) |

All the effort is going into Windows 10. The B team is now running Windows 8, 8.1. They fumble the ball a lot more. The second string is on Windows 7 as that is what is keeping Windows afloat right now, especially in Enterprise. |

I'm on the email service (see prior threads on subject) this appeared on WU as MS had no choice in the matter. We've got a rabid Q/A issue with updates at MS. |

I guess "all the effort" is why two more critical updates were awaiting me today for Win 10 preview. I thought it sort of hilarious that one of them was necessary TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE for us to continue getting new builds. Next build is in January and comes from a new branch called FBL_AWESOME. It better be. Microsoft needs some "awesome" about now. |

Microsoft can't even count, because they forgot to even make a Windows 9. ----- I guess that the old joke applies, that seven ate nine. |

Perhaps the Win9 team went the way of the OS QA team. |
