I really enjoy Creative Assembly games (Alien: Isolation from CA was awesome too, but different style game, different conversation for another day), mainly the Total War series. I've spent literally 100's of hours swept up in the newer Total War Rome II. So it's a series I can really get behind and say are unique & fun to play.
The only issue, like Mike alluded to above, is that these games usually come out the gate unplayable, buggy, crashing all the time, freezing, and far, far less than stellar. The Total War series' games all have needed and will need time before they are ripe and actually considered money well spent. The finished product is usually 6 months or so after it's retail release. That is around the time that I would ever really consider buying and/or investing in a Total War game. Eventually they do get better and become fine games in their own right... it just takes a lot of time with these games before they arrive to that point.
