So can anyone list all the new HD channels added in 2014? Want to get a count to see what we are up against for 2015. LOL

Take a look here. Doesn't specifically break down what was added in 2014, but is a good resource. Recently updated on Dec. 24. »www.avsforum.com/forum/3 ··· 4-a.html

That list PLUS the local adds. Here in NY, there is the now rather infamous ME-TV Channel 3/503 on again/off again/ on again saga. That and Channel 25/525 NYC-TV. (Actually not that bad of a channel) NEVER saw it once when it was only in garbage SD.

Nationals many of us clamor for?

H2, TCM, Esquire, Encore Suite, HLN (or whatever it's going to be called), BBC World, FS2. Hey. When do the .tv contracts end?

We also got 21/521 WLIW (Long Island) in HD (which is actually quite useful and has lots of great PBS stuff) & 523 the NJ PBS station the in the area in 2014. This upped us from *1* HD PBS local to 4!

Some channel called Pop HD is live on channel 694 in VHO 5. As far as I can remember nobody ever requested this channel on this forum.

That is a rebranded Name of TV Guide channel. I believe it goes live on the 14th. Supposedly with all new programming a a couple new series'.

You can look it up the rebrand if you wish.

Yes. He must be thinking of 521 HD. WLIW. That channel was in the upper 400's as an HD channel. So they just moved it to be with the PBS channels in HD.

All HD channels are above 500. Except for 467 Live Well. That is right beside its SD equivalent channel. That is the only HD channel i know of that is below 500.

Yeah, it looks like someone at Verizon jumped the gun and changed the name in the guide before the channel actually changed.

As far as channel adds - and I know DFW and Betamax may have better statistics - I don't think there's much room left to add anything more after the late year push in 2014.

Maybe 1 MPEG-2 and 1 MPEG-4..but I think that's about it until VZ does something to create more QAM space.

Yes. The same thing for the Cinemoi channel. It is SD widescreen. Also, I believe the SD WFN Fishing channel in is the same.

Live Well is being discontinued this month. Though I haven't heard yet what programming will replace it.

Well, at least they can add a new HD channel then, after this one is discontinued.

Hopefully one we all want. AHC, H2, etc.

maybe not since that was considered a local HD used by ABC on their frequency. It was all part of the local subchannel and reserved for anything else ABC replaces it with.

And lets not forget the AMEX channel. Also I don't know if it is still there but somewhere in the 600's there was the Porsche channel as well.

Since TCM purchased the older Disney TV collection of movies, it is a must now that Verizon Fios at TCM in High Definition. Verizon is the only national cable company in the USA that doesn't carry it!

No cable companies in the USA carry TCM in High Definition.

Because TCM HD does not broadcast anything in HD in the United States.

This is no longer true. People who DO have this channel in HD are reporting that they have finally made the jump over to showing good portions of their movies in actual HD.
