Where do you get the syrup, the bottlers don't sell direct to consumers.
Id love to have a fountain with Diet Mountain Dew and Cherry Coke but I don't drink much any more after having stomach issues. I just drink it with meals.
Anyways Id love to get rid of those darn containers and bottle deposits. You can't just put them on the curb in this state although Mom refuses to drink fountain soda. She says Diet Coke tastes different from a fountain (worse) than bottle/can. |

Just did a quick google search: Sam's club for one: » www.samsclub.com/sams/ba ··· 10101.cpSure there are other intermediate sellers of syrups. Think small private gas stations or convenience stores where those direct deliveries would not be profitable. May even be repackage into smaller sizes? |

Well YOUR momma is wrong if all the settings are correct you can get excellent tasting soda from the fountain the local in-and-out burguer has the best tasting soda out a fountain it taste like it came out of the glass no plastic or a aluminum flavor It's also ICE cold no ICE is required even if you do add some it does not add any odd flavors since they filter the water ( Ice can cause furtherer dilution of the soda or give it a weird taste if they don't filter the tap water) other major fast food places have the syrup turned on low which is why it taste nasty and/or dirty soda machines |

Are those draft taps used for soda, or the intended, and far more satisfying use? I see the soda gun sitting on top...
A nice bit of stainless or checkerplate, bent up correctly, would close off the CO2 tank and regulator setup nicely, and make for a more finished appearance, IMO... |

She says Diet Coke tastes different from a fountain (worse) than bottle/can. It does. I absolutely can't stand diet coke from a can, but it's great from a fountain. Diet coke in a bottle is a little bit better but still not a good as from a fountain. |

In fountain syrups, they sometimes replace some of the aspertame with saccharin! See » www.foodnavigator-usa.co ··· l-battle |

Which aspertame is a horrible chemical and even saccharin can/will harm the body. According to McD's the trick is to chill the water and the syrup before it gets into the dispenser. |

According to McD's the trick is to chill the water and the syrup before it gets into the dispenser. Not a trick, but a requirement. Temperature has to be under a certain level to keep the co2 from evacuating the soda water when it depressurizes and the aeration with the syrup happens in the nozzle. |

Most dispensers come out cold.. I don't ever put ice in mine because of the wasted space. |

said by LittleBill:do you ever break even on these machines? they are cool but expensive I wonder about that too. It would be very cool, especially with a kegerator in it. I'm just not sure I can drink enough beer to justify a keg.. |

The payback is slow, but it is there if your buying the syrup.
Meanwhile it seems like I keep bartering syrup and co2 out for computer work at my source, so the payback is going a bit faster lol. |

Nice.. I need to grab onto a CO2 tank for another application. And since I'd like to exchange it at Airgas, I'm guessing that means I have to buy it from them. |

Yes, make sure you get your tank where you plan on filling it, unless you have some local shops that are less stringent about tank markings.
You can either buy your tank outright and pay the minimal to fill it, or buy the gas and do a rolling deposit on the tank itself. |

For anyone wondering about payback, I did a bit of the math for my cost back in September and posted in in my thread for the setup in my house: » Re: [Plumbing] Home Chiller Based Soda SystemA lot of the payback depends on what you plan to vend TBH. |

said by Killa200:make sure you get your tank where you plan on filling it The local place is exchange only, to get them filled I'd have to go to a "real" AirGas location in the 'hood. They don't normally have CO2 on hand, but he said if I knew I would be exchanging he'd have one there for me. This is going to be used to add CO2 to the water in a planted aquarium. Makes the plants really grow. |

I get CO2 from Airgas. You don't need to buy the tank from them. I've taken in a number of tanks purchased elsewhere (two came with kegerator and one with aquarium CO2 system). Make sure you have really good lighting before you add CO2 to your aquarium. Light is the most important item for plant growth (major increase in growth when I changed my T5 lights to LED light from BuildMyLED) and makes a much greater impact on growth than a little CO2. |

I go to a satellite location, so all they can do is exchange, not fill, so that may make a difference. Haven't asked yet though.
I do have an LED light specifically for plant growth. I think I'm going to play with a DIY CO2 system (the 2L bottle and yeast method) for a month or 2 and see if it makes any difference. I probably will get even more lighting though since I'm planning to get a bigger tank (can't beat $1/gallon from Petco!). I have my cabinet maker designing a stand and canopy for it now so it will match the TV stand I already have in the living room. |

Our main location doesn't refill anymore, only exchange. Something about food grade CO2 and the handling regulations -- they now group them up and refill in batches instead of refilling an individual cylinder. I don't know if it is a Texas regulation but they changed it process two years ago as I recall (January 1, 2013). |
