TWC -is $57.99 the right rate for Standard 15/1 internet?I think my mom has been overbilled by TWC. She had been on the Standard internet tier for several years (no tv or phone service and owns her own cable modem). Her last bill was $57.99 and when she called TWC to ask why it was higher than her neighbors, the CS rep said it was because she was on the 2nd to highest tier (Extreme 30/5). However, I've checked her net on many occations and speeds were what I'd expect from Standard - well below 15/1. The CS rep got her to change her internet to a tier with a rate of $24.99 -Basic 6/1.
Was she overbilled? If so, what are her options for getting compensation (or a better deal)? She changed to the lower tier two weeks ago. If location effects rate, she lives in Maine. |

It sounds about right for a single play customer without any promotions.

Yeah $57.99 is the price for standard.
You can usually knock it down some though. I've never paid full price. |

Jeeze, get her on a promotion.
I'm paying $69 flat for 50/5.
Though, TWC seems to do well with promotions in Charlotte. My sister can't get -jack- out of TWC in Myrtle Beach, SC. They may knock 2-3 bucks off the bill for 2 months. But that's it.
Basic cable, 1 DVR and the low end internet package is running them north of $120 a month. |

You need to get to a retention rep. I recently moved and they bumped me from 20/2 up to 30/5 and lowered my bill to just under $31. I dropped TV over a year ago and my phone is wireless only and is not connected in any way to TWC. I own my own modem also. |

That is the plan I have at my house... except that I'm paying about $31 and change - after tax. On a promotion... Yes, I own my cable modem... I'm not paying $8 per month!. |

same in the Buffalo, NY market, ~ $58/mo. for 15/1. No, it's not the lowest tier, as you have found out.
I still say, do away with all these tiers, and make it $4 per 5 Mbps down per month, $1 per Mbps up per month, or something like it. That way you can tailor your service based upon your wants/needs and your budget, and not be locked into such large differences like 15, 30, 50, etc., plus be able to get more upstream without having to spend so much on downstream you don't want. The tougher nut would be how to administer the cable modem bootup parameters files which are fetched over TFTP. I envision with the tier system they have now, it's one file (or close to it) per tier, so having quite a few of them or generating them dynamically would probably be some work. |

said by OpTiC :get her standard internet promo. It cost 34.99 for the year. After the year call back to renew the promo. The promotion that is $35USD a month for standard isn't nation-wide, therefore; please don't tell people to get the promotion if they can't and you don't know if they can. Back on topic, you can try to call Customer Service and try to speak to the Retentions Department, and they might be able to lower your bill for you; but it is always best to goto a TWC store, in your area (at least in your division) and talk to the sales rep, to see what they can do for you, it is in their best interest to retain a customer and not lose a customer. |

Your seriously funny, and I qoute "I looked it up by searching each address", um if the address was not given how are you looking up the promotion available to the address??? Also, even though your in an area where a promotion is available, you might not be able to get the promo due to different arrangements between your landlord (if you live in what TWC calls a MDU [Multi-Deweling Unit]) and TWC. You can see alot of this in apartment buildings throughout NYC especially in sections of Queens and Manhattan.. |

That's true that MDU has different promos. I think the best way to check is go to the TWC store. |
