Re: Rate increase (Yet again!)In New Orleans, TV Starter (what I have) drops from $25 to $22, Internet essential rises from $47 to $49, Preferred (what I have) $63 to $65 and Premier $74 to $75.
Of course, in addition to the $3 drop in TV starter fee was the addition of a $3 Broadcast Surcharge.
I wonder if they're trying to show people what a-la-carte would look like? |

The rate increases aren't too bad in Phoenix, but unwelcome nonetheless. quote: Essential will change from $46.99 to $48.99. Preferred will change from $62.99 to $64.99. Premier will change from $73.99 to $74.99.

I wonder if they're trying to show people what a-la-carte would look like? The answer to this question is no. There was a news article on FierceCable that explains why the fee was separated from the overall cost of service. » www.fiercecable.com/stor ··· 15-01-27Beth Weiss, spokeswoman from Cox explains (excerpt from the article): "This is not a rate increase. The broadcast surcharge will not change the total amount on the bill for existing customers. The bills now will simply include a broadcast surcharge line item to keep customers better informed of the costs associated with the delivery of broadcast television. ... This line item will just reflect a portion of the costs associated with the delivery of broadcast television to customers." In other words, by separating the fee from outside of the normal "TV Starter" pricing, they're able to increase the "line item" at any point in time without affecting the "TV Starter" plan. While it may not change the total amount on the bill for us today, you can bet later on this year it will change, and continue to change on a yearly basis (my bet is the line item goes higher and higher as broadcasters begin to demand more money). |

If Wheeler reclassifies the internet as Title II we should get some better options, with companies registered as broadband providers getting access to utility poles and other infrastructure to facilitate rollouts - Google Fiber included. Which of course is the exact opposite of what Broadband for America is claiming, since it threatens the monopoly of the big telecoms and ISP's behind it. |

Starter will change from $32.99 to $34.99. Essential will change from $48.99 to $51.99. Preferred will change from $62.99 to $66.99. Premier will change from $73.99 to $77.99. "we are making the following changes to our service rates effective January 8, 2015. These changes will be reflected on this bill statement..." 12 month retention was $52.99 -> $56.99 preferred I still haven't gotten rate jacked. Is cox incompetent or have I complained enough that the "loyalty" department is proactive? |

i just got my new bill, they upped my bill $6 to $72.99. All I have is premier Internet. Looks like the hit to their legacy video subscriptions is taking its toll.
In the past I have to call and threaten to switch to ATT, but that's getting old.
Is their a better way to get and KEEP the price down? |
|
|
How much luck do you have with doing this (threatening to go to ATT)? I haven't had any promos in years, and I'm at 77.99, which is getting insane. Sadly they are my only option - ATT Max DSL at my house is 6MB - a joke. |

Carry out your threat. Switch to AT&T. Or switch down to Cox Preferred. The problem is that most of the retention specialists at Cox know that AT&T costs more per Mbps. 100 Mbps down for $73 vs 6 Mbps down for $60? |

That must be an introductory offer. |

Even so, AT&T = $30 for 6Mb = $5.00/Mb Cox = $73 for 100Mb = $0.73/Mb You can pay less overall with AT&T, which is fine if that's your priority. Or you can get much higher speeds (and better value) from Cox, if that's your priority. Just choose accordingly. |

the broadcast fee is most likely to show customers that they are charginging for the over the channels, so when the broadcasters raise the rates and cox rises that one fee users now who to bame for the increase. |

Cox offered:
Preferred $53 12 months Premier $59 24 months (no contract either)
Took the preferred since it's overkill already but you can also drop down to Starter and do the $5 tier upgrade for 6 months for those that can't get these. 4/27 for the 6 month tier upgrade expiration if available for your area. |

I just went to pay my bill, I only have premier internet access, they increased my rates $6 a month to $72.99
Any way to get around this additional cost? I am tired of threatening to switch to ATT every 6 months when they increase the rates. |

If you've been a customer a while you should get 12 month retention rates. Premier is the highest tier so it will also be that expensive. Downgrade to preferred tier and do that $5 tier upgrade if you area has it. That will at least help for 6 months. |

You should be able to downgrade a tier and then sign up for the promo right after. Tell the retention/loyalty department that is what you are doing. You can't stack promos normally and must wait for one to expire. Cox may require 1-2 months at full price before they will budge sometimes as that has happened to me before. |
