Mavericks and external HDI bought a couple of WD raw drives to use in a Newertech Voyager external drive dock to make backups. Plugged one in to format it and it wouldn't mount. Same with the other. I did the usual; change cables, different ports, curse and then had a look on the internet. Seems there are some people are having issues with Mavericks and external drives not mounting. So I moved the Voyager over to my Mini, which is running 10.8, and the drive mounted with no problem. Got the usual message about not recognizing the format or something. I used Disk Utility to format and name the drive and then moved it back to the Mavericks machine. It mounted fine and I was able to make a successful backup clone.
Just a heads up. A Mavericks bug? |

I see that you have a Mac Mini, but I did not see the model of the Mavericks Mac stated.
My 5,1 Mac Pro (running Mavericks 10.9.5) has not had any problems mounting external drives. |
