Smokey the Bear CommercialsHave finally lost it with these. They come on constantly when watching cable sports networks. FIOS is pre-empting whatever commercials are on the telecast with their own, but they keep recycling the same three Smokey commercials, ofter repeating same one 3 times on one break. Is there a way to stop this? |

Someone is paying for them to be shown, it's not up to Verizon. Some national commercials are replaced with local ones. |

Reminds me of when I was watching ABC on Demand a year or two ago when Alice In Wonderland had been re-released to the home market. They played the same stinking commercial once or twice per commercial break. If I never see that commercial again it will be too soon.
I don't think there's anything more you can do aside from recording/time shifting or muting. |

Just imagine how much Tax Payers money was spent to produce the Smokey Bear commercials that show people should not put candles on cakes in the forest....
I mean, are you kidding me, my 5 yr old niece knows that... |

The Ad Council » en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_Council and the federal government. The fictional character Smokey Bear, is administered by three entities: the United States Forest Service, the National Association of State Foresters, and the Ad Council. You know who is in charge of television and broadcast licenses? The FCC. |

I'll just say this. Although I haven't come across this ad on TV, I do hear a lot of PSA's when listening to radio broadcasts online (in place of local commercials) and in the middle of the night on the radio when they play reruns of the previous day's talk show broadcasts. Honestly I prefer them over the constant barrage of car dealer ads and store sales. |

Tax payers aren't involved. It's non profit organizations and pro bono work for ad agencies. » en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_Council » en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sm ··· key_Bear |

You must not be the sentimental type. Point is the campaigns still work and no reason that social media can't be used in conjunction instead of a replacement, like I said it doesn't cost us anything. |

I would far prefer to watch a dozen of the smokey bear commercials in a row than to watch just one of the anti-smoking ads in the NYC area. They are (intentionally) extremely disgusting and repulsive. |

I agree. If I wasn't already a non-smoker it'd definitely cause me to stop.
I like the smokey commercials, reminds me of my youth even though I'm not that old. |

Re: Smokey the Bear CommercialsAt least they finally changed up the PSA's. Remember when the same PSA's to learn how to use a computer at the library kept airing? |

Eh, they're a bit more tolerable than that awful recycling commercial with the plastic bottle that had a dream to see the ocean.
Someone should tell whoever funded that ad that having it played incessantly can have the reverse effect - after seeing it for the 100th time I wanted to toss our plastic bottles in with the regular trash and tell each one that their dreams have been crushed. |

I haven't seen the Smokey ads here, but we do get just a handful of endlessly-repeated Fios-inserted commercials. There's one about Gerber life insurance, and another about diabetes, for instance. |
